Dmplus3 is a clever chicky that's why we love her.
Thanks Marcia. Oh and it doesn't normally look that clean. I had to wait about 4 weeks to be allowed to get into that room and tidy up. It's normally very messy. Although one day during exams he put everything on the floor as he said the desk was too cluttered. Does this mean there is hope that one day it will be kept tidy lol???

I went to Ikea today and realised that the solution to my problem of using a piece of glass as both a write-on noticeboard and a magnetic board, is to pretend it's a glass splashback and attach one of those pieces of metal that usually has knives "stuck" to it. At the top, so I can use a magnet to put the paper notes, with space down the bottom to write on.

Happy about that.

If Ikea is good for nothing else - it is good for those little quirky solutions.

They also had another solutions, which is a bit more difficult to describe, but the glass was mounted in such a way that there was a gap between the glass and the wall behind. They had a large clip thing which slid over the glass, and notes could then be placed under the clip.

One day soon, all will be revealed and then I will be having major show and tell photos.
