I need help with encouraging my husband not to bring the car so forward when he is parking it in the garage.
There is so much happening in our garage. Not only is it our main entry into the house, you also have to walk through it to get to the rubbish bins, and our washing line is strung across the width of the garage. I like having the washing line there as I don't have to worry about the rain or sun damage on the clothes.
The problem is if either of the cars are parked to far into the garage it becomes difficult to reach the washing line, and I'm not the tallest person to start with. So I usually have to reverse my husbands car before I can get the washing on the line, one extra task in the day.
It would be great if there was a way to get him to stop the car at exactly the right point. I have thought about a line on the wall but I think he would forget about it and not notice it. Or I could rush out there every time I hear the garage door opening and guide him in like they do airplanes but usually I'm too busy doing something else - like cooking dinner:rolleyes:.
All suggestions are welcome.

You could hang a tennis ball on some string so when it hits the windscreen you know to stop the car.

The tennis ball SHOULD work ... but just in case ... why not use one of those soft mini soccer *****. That would really alert him!

Yes that would be very effective Lol. I went out and looked at it today but the ball would end up being in the middle of the washing line area, which could be awkward when hanging out the washing.
And yes he drove through all the washing yesterday - bless him!

We have a piece of timber bolted to the garage floor. So when the front wheel hits the timber you know to stop. That should work.

Thanks for the idea Whyme. I mentioned it to my husband who explained you can get rubber speed humps to use in your garage to achieve the same thing. I was a little surprised he hadn't mentioned this before I told him your great idea. Maybe he hasn't heard me nagging about this problem for the last 6 years - I obviously need to nag louder and more often :D

So problem solved - now I just need to get them put in place!
