I have just been given the go ahead to "find out" how much it would cost to do this, I am just not sure if I want to go down the wallpaper road......always happy to tell clients to do wallpaper I just never thought I would hesitate when it came to doing it for myself.
So its this pattern only in this entrance knook...the colours are actually perfect with my home...
Now be completely honest.

Rofl Elements- I am exactly the same. I know exactly what clients MUST have in their homes but so indecisive in my own home:(
Firstly I am very impressed with your persuasive skills in convincing DH to agree to this:D
Will you put anything in front of it?

At this stage I have only the go ahead to find out pricing;) ...and I just sat the sample piece against the wall for a coupl of days and didn't say anything....eventually he said "that wallpaper is nice isn't it".....the fish has been hooked;) hahaha...
I think either the double bass (you can see it in the corner) or just a pot.....something very simple.
Or we will put something like my wall clock up and no wallpaper....

Yes,yes the wallpaper and the double bass. The double bass is the piece de resisitance:) It just needed the perfect touch in front of it. Do you play the bass?

Hubby used to be an electric bass player....in a band, and thats how we met....long storey;).....but he always wanted to learn the double bass....its probably become more of a furniture piece but he has almost mastered Happy Birthday;):D

Rofl- that's so cute:) It looks fantastic as a decoration.
It shouldn't cost much to do that small space in wallpaper. I hope you get to do it:)

I love it and think it will look fantastic, there are some stunning wallpapers out now and alot of them are prepasted and very gentle on the wall so easy to take down in a few years when you want a change :)

I think thats the key Giggle, and all this is based on how much it will cost us. I think if its 1 roll worth he will agree...any more and there might be a little more convincing.;)

Well I have just looked thru my pattern books to see if i could get it cheaper for you, but dont have the exact one. Very similar but not exact :)

I have been given the green light to go with the wall paper:eek::D so I have to strike while the iron is hot....
I have to ask though based on the place we are putting it and the pattern do you think just the inside wall will be sufficient? It won't wrap around the sides as hubby is right in saying you don't want to see the edge but I just want to be sure before going to this effort.
What are your thoughts....and yes the double bass will be sitting in front or to the side.;)
Milena
14-06-2010, 10:44 AM
Yes I agree just the inside wall would look perfect:)
Julie-Ann
14-06-2010, 10:49 AM
I agree with the inside only.
How exciting. You had better buy it today before he comes home and says he has changed his mind:D

5kg - I hope not:D
You could have it on the wall before hubby comes home tonight:D
Milena

Oh no that won't be happening. I have 1 eye higher than the other. No not Hunchback style:eek:....its just every time I tell someone something on the wall is straight I get a lot of "are you serious"....I think this should best be left up to hubby....he needs a creative outlet and a reason to claim this wallpaper thing as his own;):D

Thanks T, you just reminded me to update...I went to pick it up and found that its slightly different to the pic I posted...A bit more of a champagne background and the pattern is a little less busy...but still very nice and I am still very happy.
But.....they had none in stock and it will take 3 weeks from the UK...so it will happen I have paid for it but it will not be going up on the wall for at least 4 weeks;)
I am one happy little vegemite though.;)

Thanks for the votes girls....
I have to tell you all, the pic I posted is slightly different to the one I had chosen...now would you believe I paid and ordered for my one and its no longer being made, anywhere in the world:(
Now I may have to go with the one pictured(it was meant to be);)
I am going on the weekend to re choose:rolleyes: but I may just find this one is perfect afterall. Either way I am very excited even if its only a small section of my home but I may just cover a canvas or 2 with any left overs to put somewhere else in the house.
I have just been researching what people think of doing feature walls in their homes or what the design "trend" is. I have to say I am completely happy with the fact that I am only doing one small section of my home in this. I just don't think a whole room would work...

I agree, Kristie. We focus on doing a single feature wall or occasionally we'll do a feature wall with a subtle complementary design, usually to hide a flaw on the wall or bring more warmth to a bland room etc. I recently saw a display house that had a very dark brown wallpaper on all four walls and it really made the space seem smaller.
The trend is definitely to just do a single feature wall in a room and to use wallpaper rather than paint. Another growing trend is to not do the whole wall, just a section and frame it so it looks like a giant artwork. I'll find some pics this evening to illustrate this.

I have found one Silk...I have seen a few whole rooms wallpapered and its just to much for my senses..;) I really like this look below...alot more subtle and remains a feature.

That looks gorgeous Elements. I had started to notice this trend of doing only part of 1 wall too. I quite like it:)

Yes i like the wallpaper, very chic Elements, is it just for the little nook in your hallway there, that will look great. Its nice to have just a small area of a really busy pattern. Is it a $400 plus roll. Most of the nice ones are, im looking at a Nina Campbell one at the moment, with the butterflies and i need 2 rolls.

Susie, Yes the wall paper will just be in the little nook,. I have just gone to pick up the other samples and I am quite excited...its really real. I think I have 2 to choose from now and I am very happy with both. I only need 1 roll and its $149 retail...But I get it at trade.;) so thats a nice little saving..
Wow your rolls must be beautiful...is that a trade price or retail?...
Silk, those pics are really inspiring... I like the butterfly wallpaper, I think I have seen it in a display home. With the wings that blow in the breeze....
