If you hate cleaning grout this may interest you:D. There is an alternative – Epoxy Grout. Why have we need been told of this stain resistant product before? Well as fantastic as it is there are some drawbacks.

Epoxy grout is commonly used in commercial buildings that grout is simply not suitable for, such as commercial kitchens and laboratories. It is virtually stain resistant, water proof, does not need sealing, and with an additive used is mold resistant as well.

So why is it not more commonly used? It is much more expensive than grout to purchase and to apply. It requires 2 people to apply the product and it is a very difficult to product to use, as it sets very quickly. It also can not be used on porous tiles, the tiles must be sealed. It requires the floors to be washed down with an acid solution after applying. This is not always suitable in the home environment.

The industry is aware of these negatives and has been developing the epoxy grouts so they will be easier to use by not setting so quickly, and not being so hard to remove the excess. One of my local tile shops has been experimenting with this product and is impressed with Ardex Ezy Epoxy.

Before you call your tiler with this exciting news beware most tillers will not be experienced in using this product and probably won’t be interested in using it due to its difficulty in applying. If you find a tiler who is experienced with epoxy grout, check his past work to make sure your happy with his work and the product.

The thought of not having to scrub grout ever again is very tempting. What do you think, would you use it?
