We all have different decorating styles but sometimes they follow more of a theme.
Do you think you have a theme to your decorating, even if in only some of your rooms?
My style is traditional with a few contemporary touches. However, after our trip to Provence I did put more of a theme to the family room and meals area. Just by adding a few provincial touches. In the family room I changed some picture frames and pots for the plants, changed the coasters to ceramic coasters with dragonflys, and added some boules b*lls to the coffee table. In the meals area I already had a pot with fake lavender in the middle. Now I have some provincial placemats in bone and white, some toile napkins with a cherub acting as a paper weight on them, and a salt and pepper shaker that are little chickens (my favourite piece but Mr17 truly hates them- most amusing:D).
So do you have an asian, shabby chic, beachy or any other theme in any of your rooms?

We used to be predominantly 'country', after all its a farm house on a farm...so 'duh'...but we took a trip (many actually) to the USA and we fell in love with their 'mission style' furniture. I am gradually changing over but finding it very difficult to obtain what i need here in Australia. I buy lots on line but of course postage can get out of hand on larger items.
Our 'family/livingroom' I'm attempting a more 'tropical' feeling though, as i like the laid back comfy feeling in Hawaii.

Yes the laid back tropical style of Hawaii would be beautiful.
Do you have any pictures of the type of Mission style pieces you are looking for? Maybe we can find something similar here in Australia for you:)

I am definitley following more and more the Hampton's look. I have it in the master bedroom:love it:. I am starting to look at how to introduce it more in the ensuite and the living areas. The good news is there are so many Hampton's style ornaments available in the shops now. All I have to do is convince DH that this is the way to go:rolleyes:.
I read yesterday in House and Garden that more than 52% of their readers surveyed preferred a Hampton's style. Do you have a theme or style that your home reflects?

I must admit I do like hamptons/classical style but with an industrial edge.... I like one off original pieces.....things that are not found everywhere...

I like to think about a house becoming a home as it evolves over time filled with much loved finds....rather than being too matchy......This can however go wrong as evolving over time could end up looking cluttered so there does need to be a rough plan in place....

I am going to be very interested/scared to see how the rough plan I in my head translates to Rome...

I do feel that Hamptons style is the new version of French Provincial which everyone had in the 90s (blue and yellow anyone?). I like it a lot though.
