Have you seen this amazing product? It's called Switchable Glass. I have seen on a few TV shows so I thought I would hunt it down for us.

I found an Australian company called G.James glass and aluminium steel the product. This is how they describe it:
"Switchable glass is a laminated product that transforms clear glass into an opaque, non-transparent screen with the flick of a switch. This allows the user to control vision and privacy or regulate daylight as desired.
This glass is a laminated product which uses liquid crystals encapsulated within the interlayer. When inactive, the crystals are randomly scattered rendering the glass opaque. When switched on, the liquid crystals align themselves allowing light to transmit through the glass.
Switchable glass is ideal for use in boardrooms, internal partitions, shopfronts or as a high clarity large projection screen."

I would think it would also be great for bathrooms or any windows where privacy can be an issue at times.
Amazing isn't it:)

Julie-Anne, I saw this on Grand designs once a wonderful way to keep homes light and bright but still allowing privacy....I will have to look into costs;)
Love it.

Yes I saw it on Grand Designs too and a travel show. It was featured in a toilet where the door became frosted when you turned the latch- weird.
I imagine it is pricey but super cool:)

Just a quick note that there is also a dust/dirt repellent glass for high-rise and extra tall residential applications. Handy if cleaning windows if they are too tall (eg. double story full length windows)

Maybe we need to feature that too a.norton. I would love that even on my single story home

Wow. This would be great in a bathroom - you could soak in a tub, enjoy the outdoor greenery from the window, and if you're worried about a neighbour copping a perv, hit the switch. I love it. I wonder how expensive it is...

this stuff looks great.. I have seen on it a few shows too. It would be great when you see those gorgeous bedrooms/bathrooms with views to die for.. that you might want privacy SOMETIMES.

Mind you imagine when it breaks. OUCH on the pocket and the lack of privacy LOL
