Having lots of natural light in a room makes us feel instantly comfortable. It might be that we feel connected with the outside or as simple as not having to squint to see on the other side of the room. An easy way to do this is to add skylights.
Skylights can be added to most rooms of a single story home or to the top story of a 2 story home. They come in a range of different shapes and sizes to match all types of décor.
The most common are suntunnels, which allow a small amount of light into small rooms. But these suntunnels don’t allow you to see the outsight sky. They are inexpensive to have installed but can make a huge difference to your room.
Skylights can be fixed or can be opened for ventilation. These can be made from vinyl, which is very durable and economical or impact glass. The glass can be tinted to reduce any glare into the room.
Ventilated skylights and skywindows can be opened either manually with a crank handle or remotely when they are automatic. Some of the designs when installing these are very stylish and can be a feature in the room.
If you are installing a skylight or skywindow you might also like to consider adding a shade or blind. The blinds can be made from materials that completely block out the light to material that simply reduce the amount of light coming into the room.
I would love to install a ventilated skylight just above the shower. I can imagine how wonderful it would feel to be basked in the sunlight whilst taking your morning shower.
Would you install them in any of your rooms?
