I need to relace some very daggy curtains on a few of the windows at a holiday house we have. The windows are small -110 x 110 cm and have all the little Georgian style squares. I'm thinking of timber blinds - to match the rest of house and was wondering do you think it would look ok to put on the actual architrave rather than being set in , this would save cutting to size. Am worried that light might show through if set in and ruin a good holiday sleep in! What do you think?

Hi
I don't see a problem with having timber blinds set out of the window recess. I think if you set them in the window recess you will get that little bit of light peeking through the sides of the blind.
One tip is to try to have the same window treatments across the front of the house. It looks better when viewing the house from the street.
This article I wrote might also give you some other ideas.
