With the world suffering from the GFC maybe this is the time for the Shabby Chic style?
Rachel Ashwell has released a new book Shabby Chic Interiors, My Rooms, Treasures and Trinkets.
Shabby Chic style has been popular since the early 1990's and its soft fabrics and distressed furniture gave our homes a sense of welcome rather than everything is too precious to touch.
I must admit I thought it had run its course and it was time for a less cluttered, cleaner look. But maybe this is the perfect style during a time when we are all trying to spend a little less, use what we already have and recycle.
What do you think - is it perfect for today or old news?

Maybe shabby chic still works as accessories but I wouldn't like to see it as the entire decor scheme. I do think a lot of people prefer the less cluttered look, more a minimalist style . You could have touches of it and that could look quite nice.

I personally like a mixture of both. I think the minimalist look, looks unwarm and a bit hard. The mixture softens it and makes a house more personable.

The shabby chick look could work maybe as long as you kept it clean and uncluttered.
