Is this for you? Just for the geeky amongst us, or a viable solution for the not-so-perfect aspects of our homes? Discuss. :)

OMG I want it. That is fantastic. Is it for sale somewhere?
Imagine you could use it for those windows that are right up on the fence line.
Would it give total privacy as well?
I'm so intrigued. Thanks for finding it:D

Yeah, I was thinking about those sorts of design issues, where you've got a really unlovely view, or a neighbouring house right up against your wall (off topic - anyone else see the ACA story last week about the people with only 40CM between new build and theirs!?! What the...?)
As far as I can tell, it's not windows as such but a set of LCD screens - a modern trompe l'oeil, if you like. Don't know any more - just followed a Tweet there, and then immediately had to share it with you lot! ;)

Here's a another vid about what's involved in putting it in...a weekend project for the other half?

The beauty of it is you would feel like there was natural light in the room. Although you might end up suffering from SAD disease because the light isn't real.
I didn't see the ACA show but that is the way it is going to go. If we don't infill older areas then the only other options are high rise apartments or urban sprawl.
I think whilst it is fun it is also just brilliant and I can see it being used in homes.
The other use for it to me was at night. I hate closing the blinds and being shut off from the world. I know Katrina is the same. If you could have this on your windows at night and get privacy, it would give a completely different feel to the room:).

Uh...see 2nd video - there's a bit more to it -it's totally built in!
But you could do a simpler version with a couple of LCD monitors. Basically, the Winscape is a piece of software that is readily available - you can trial it for 30 uses for free, but then it costs only $10(USD, I think) for full license rights. The rest of it is a couple of plasma screens, some geeky gadgetry (only one viewer can wear the device that makes the perspective change, so it's a bit of a party trick atm) and a bit of carpentry.
Here (http://www.rationalcraft.com/Winscape.html) for a bit more info.
Okay, who's going to be the first to put it to the test? (Don't look at me - time & money poor, and hopeless with a hammer...;) )

Oh that is awesome! I want one :)
Just have to find someone good with the gadgets and the hammer to install it ;)
I reckon they would make a fortune if they found a way to sell it as a self contained unit you hang on the wall. After seeing how they build it in, my first thought was - what if something went wrong with the TV or you had to get at the wiring/mechanisms behind the stud wall???

Holy Moly, my heart was racing! This is amazing and now that I think about it, how easy is that concept?! Bit of hard work and some $$$ to get it to happen, but what a great feature. This is on my list to blog about!

I was finally able to find 5 mins to watch how this was made. So much work involved:eek:. But like Sunnyroadmum said if they could find a way to make it easy to install they could sell lots of them. Very impressive:D.
