I need any tips for buying a sofa. We are about to buy our 1st sofa, all the others have been secondhand ones from family.
Does anyone have any tips or suggestions on what we should look for? I'm not really sure of what style, size or even fabric and i want it to last for ages. So any suggestions would be helpful.

I would suggest that you buy the best quality you can afford. If you get a sofa with a good solid frame it will last for years.

I agree with Rubyfig quality is essential.

You need to get the best quality frame, webbing and filling.
Good quality frames are made from either hardwood or steel.
You will need good quality webbing like "Black Cat" webbing or steel coils.
Then with the filling, Dunlop do a very good quality foam.

If you can afford this quality the sofa should last many years. My sofa is 16 years old and we had it recovered 8 years ago. It looks in perfect condition. And more importantly it is still comfortable to sit on.

A friend on Twitter suggested this
For those of you who've been waiting for the sofa sales... RT @kingfurniture (http://twitter.com/kingfurniture) 50% off selected items! http://www.kingfurniture.co... (http://www.kingfurniture.com.au/)

Another twitter friend suggested
I would recommend is the Karlstad from Ikea. Washable, replaceable cover (buy a spare) and flexible config. chaise and sofa

I always use Sofas to Size in South Perth. I love their quality and the fact that you can virtually create a sofa to suit your room at a reasonable price.
Hope that helps
