Do you decorate your home for Easter?
Over the years I have collected a few Easter decorations that I like to put out at Easter time. No where near as much as at Xmas time but enough to set the mood for the holiday. I will post some pictures over the weekend as I dust them off and put them out.
Does anyone else do this or am I strange lol?:D

Okay as no one else has said they do this I am now assuming I am strange lol:D.
But here are pictures of my my few simple Easter decorations I put out at this time of the year.
I have been thinking of putting the eggs that are in the basket, hanging of a tree branch in a pot. This was how they were displayed in the shop. Maybe I need to borrow some Lethal Sticks (http://www.decoratingforum.com.au/showthread.php/my-beautiful-vase-424.html?t=424&highlight=Lethal+Sticks) from Gill:D

No I don't Easter decorate, but I do love your little bits! Actually, I am usually not a fan of seasonal decorating...but all the blog I love in America do it with every season or event - Valentines Day, Halloween....some of their decorating is amazing and I am sure they need a separate room for all of their stuff!!!!

I think you would be right about needing a spare room for their decorations.
The eggs actually came from a beautiful shop in Belgium. They decorate for Easter, Autumn and of course Christmas. But there decorations in Belgium were always so subtle and classy- never too much or over the top. I carried these eggs lovingly in my hand luggage all the way home:D

Love you Easter decorations. The 2 little bunnies holding an Easter egg are just so cute and a nest with the little chicks looks adorable. I was about to ask if you hand painted the Easter eggs in the basket but saw you bought them in Belgium.
I don't Easter decorate my home but you gave me an idea something I can do in the future :)

Thanks Milena
The 3 little chicks in the nest was an Easter bonnet from when DS was 6. I thought if I have gone to all this trouble I might as well make the most of it.:)
I painted the lilac eggs but bought all the others.

I am shooting a wedding (rare for me (and I am remembering why)..LOL
in looking for some giant latex balloons.. i tried pink frosting....LOVE IT
and came accross these - http://www.pinkfrosting.com.au/shop/category/easter
ttp://www.pinkfrosting.com.au/shop/item/bird-nest-favours-and-decorations-set-of-6 ...oh so tempted to get some... but they are very small (less chocolate for children!)
I have already given my staff their easter gifts. One works elsewhere so my assistant helped me package her treats ...so i gave her hers at the same time .. seems silly to make her wait a week LOL. I did lil white ramekins with some quality eggs. and some lil bunnies and decos from bed bath and table.. simple and sweet..
These are also quite sweet http://www.pinkfrosting.com.au/shop/item/birdcage-tea-light-and-place-card-holder
These lil pails are always good to have on hand http://www.pinkfrosting.com.au/shop/item/tin-favour-pails---various-colours-available

Lanne they are so gorgeous:D.
I can't decide which I love the most - the birds nest, the little buckets or those birdcages.
Very inspiring thanks:D.

I just stopped in at Bed Bath and Table and they have quiet a few things on sale (30%) easter range.. if you are inspired for some last min decorating they do have small speckled eggs i think you could use year round. I got (shock) yellow and white wooden eggs. I dont think I even have clients in between now and friday but hey..
they made me smile!

You could buy the yellow & white eggs for other years- in case you have clients come through then. You know you want to- after all they are yellow and white and would like great in a grey container:D.
If the shops were open in Perth I would go and have a look right now:mad: but I will definitely have a look tomorrow as I will be right next to one of their stores. Thanks for the information Lanne.

Do chocolate bunnies count as decorating?! I've got some lindt ones sitting around the house ;)
Julie-Ann
28-03-2010, 04:56 PM
They only count if they decorate for at least 24 hours - if you gobble them all up as soon as they are put on display I don't think that counts lol:D

24hrs?! That doesn't seem fair ;)

No, we dont do easter decorating, Tho me and the girls have made easter cards to give to there cousins and grandma & grandpas. and we have had a little fun with that. And at easter time as a little girl we never got easter eggs just pjs and slippers. Kinda neat idea. tho I think we might carry on the pj idea & from mr easter bunny and hide a few around the yard. tho my lil Abbey asked me the other day if our MR.frank hides easter egges in the gardens for all the kids at easter time. had a lil chuckle at that :D

We only give a small amount of chocolate to our son. When he was younger he received winter pj's and books ( he still gets the books). Before we put this in place he was getting ridiculous amounts of chocolate from relatives. So we asked them to give book vouchers instead. And now he is a very big reader- so it paid off:D

I did some simple Easter decorating today..
I am finding I really love a pop of yellow in front of the big aqua wall hanging in the inning area... But as yellow is my work colour I refuse to have it anywhere else in the house (my way of keeping work and home separate)
I am relenting for Easter lol ( an I am on leave) I kept it simple as usual lol.. I have a set of old Books I painted white for an event but I find myself using them constantly ... I there a couple up on e dining table and added some lil White birds which I have put most of the time... Some large yellow flowers tha were in the media room and a little basket filled with the speckled eggs I bought last year..
We also went to the park and got some sticks... We painted them White and have hung some eggs from bed bath and table.... The sticks could hurt someone so they are over on the dresser to the side... Nice and safe

Nice ladies..............Lanne did you get the bag of eggs from Bed Bath and table on clearance for $1?
I popped in to our local (Brunswick East) BBT outlet and got a bag of these coloured eggs for only $1.00......
Not sure if we are doing any Easter decorating but might use some eggs to decorate the small gifts we give nephews and nieces....usually pjs or trackies and books....I can see a pattern here..
That is if we can part with them...I do have my x-mas branches I could hang them on but and less excited about doing anything here now that Rome has it's frame up......Oh yeah Oh yeah!!!!!

you're all scaring me - easter is more than 2 weeks away isn't it?

Stunning Lanne:love it:. I have started planning my Easter decorating. Yes it is still 2 weeks away Clp but BBT motivated me:o. I was in there the other day and I noticed they were selling the white stick trees that they use to display their decorations. So I grabbed one. I tested out the eggs I already had that have ribbon on them to hang but we need more. I have googled how to add the ribbon and it is on my To Do List.
Pictures will follow when all is finished.
BBT have some gorgeous Easter decorations- well worth the visit.

Our son will be 12 on Easter Sunday this year - first time they have co-incided, so not sure how it will all function. We don't decorate for Easter, but there are definitely more shops doing lovely displays.

I don't usually decorate for Easter (well, I haven't in the past), but a few weeks ago I decided to move some things around on the hall table and ended up with a bird theme. So with the nest and eggs there as well, I guess it is sort of Easter-ish!

Thanks JA! I love looking at pics of your home too!
Hi thisisme, no not a pro photographer, just a hobby. But I have just bought a new camera which helps! My old DSLR was 6 years old and totally obsolete. I don't know myself now, but I don't find much time to photograph, unfortunately. I love photographing weather/storms and landscapes...hence the name! ;)

Hi rosierose,
I'm a Nikon girl through and through, and I retired my D70 for a D7000. It's brilliant!! I've had it for about 6 weeks, but haven't had a chance to really 'use' it properly. Hopefully over the holidays I will! :D

I will add a vote fo canon ... But skip the 5d mk 2 (focus issues abound) a new one is due this year,... A 7d would be a good option for an enthusiast but the 50/60d range would also be good. I think both are crop sensors..
Nothing wrong with a 550d range either if you are an occasional snapper.
The kit lenses suck... I would say go body only and pick up e appropriate lenses for your use.. A 50mm 1.8 is only about $150 and is a great cheap prime lense. I prefer the 1.4 or 1.2 but they come in at $450-600 and about 2500 respectively
The 85mm 1.8 is also a great add in for a basic kit..
Loved your new look stormy... Great bird s nest!!!

A lot of our bits & pieces are in boxes/storage until the family room extension is complete (I had a large cupboard in there that I stored items in).
I've managed to find a couple of bits and have made a small Easter display for the coffee table in the loungeroom.
As the coffee table is glass topped (it's actually a leather ottoman that I had a piece of glass cut to size so it could be used as a coffee table :)) I've taken a photo on a bench to provide some contrast.

Thanks Julie-Ann - there is one little chicken and one little duck. I actually bought them yesterday as I could only find my eggs and birdcage and needed another element to go with it. They were in a gorgeous little homewares shop that has just opened near home.
I ended up also buying a beautiful floorstanding ginger pot which will go very nicely in the family room ... when it's done!! :clapping:

You had a good day's shopping:clapping:. What's the name of the store - for any of our other readers to check out?

Yes - I've gathered quite a few lovely pieces for the new family room - the store is called Open Home in Ferntree Gully - great items/stock and very reasonably priced.
I've just taken a photo of the gingerpot ... doesn't do it justice really (has a lovely silver lid) but you get the idea (approx 70cm high)
