How many times do you clean your carpets?

Hello. I am trying to write an article for my class about carpet cleaning and would like to know how many times in a year do you have it cleaned by yourselves and how many times when your have it professionally cleaned.

We have our carpets professionally (steam) cleaned every year, although I've heard you should have it done every 6 months...oops.

When I had carpet right thru the house I got it professionally cleaned twice a year.

I only have it in the bedrooms now and once a year seems to be ok at the moment.

We also used to do the same when we had carpet right through our house. We only have carpet in the bedrooms and study now. :)

I've only ever had carpets professionally clean when I was vacating a premises as a renter. So that would be about every 18 months or so. Now we have our own place and we don't have any carpet at all. I kind of miss carpet, but floorboards and tiles are so easy to keep clean.
