When we were chatting about Martha Stewart earlier today here (http://www.decoratingforum.com.au/showthread.php/whats-your-favourite-417.html?t=417&highlight=craft) I remembered seeing these gorgeous pictures of her Maine Guest House on her website. I thought you might like to see some.
http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/ab86/jamhind/marthadining.jpg Her dining room
http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/ab86/jamhind/marthalounge.jpg Her lounge room
http://i852.photobucket.com/albums/ab86/jamhind/marthasink.jpg and the sink in the bathroom.
I heard her say on her show that guests to her houses are given slippers to wear at the front door (which they can keep) and she never serves red wine in her home. Do you think she has a few hangups (http://www.decoratingforum.com.au/showthread.php/hang-ups-379.html?t=379&highlight=hangups) too:D.
If you have a favourite Martha room or story we would love to hear it.

Yes I had heard that too about the slippers. I ask people not to wear shoes in our home but I can't afford to keep a supply of slippers for them
I love her website, I get lots of great little crafty ideas from there. Easter bags, Christmas sacks (mini ones made out of hessian for lollies).
She'd done well for herself apart from going to Jail of course ;)

I was amazed at how expensive to give slippers away would be.
I thought you might like to see her Office/craft room in the attic of one of her homes.

It's very big but not quite as decorative as I imagined it would be.
What do you think?

Well I try :o I did a little workshop late last year on bow making. Last Christmas every present had a bow in it. I now have a storage container fill of bows and ribbon ready to use. I add a different colour of tear ribbon to my stock every other week. I call it my therapy time to sit and make them ;) I love wrapping paper and tissue and little embellishments that you can tuck in the bows. My husband gets a bit cross with the amount of paper I bring home, especially after christmas.
Not the most beautiful wrapped gift but this is one of the bows I learnt how to make. Expensive in the shop, I can make about 70-80 of them for $7.19!!

That is so beautiful. It is a pity to open it. I hope people appreciate all the effort you go to- I know I would:).
If you ever set up the laundry space the way you want to let us know:)

Thank-you and yes they did. Well my girls did, the boys well bows don't do much for them!
It will be a little way off yet, but I'm planning it with the help of Ikea :D
Do you want a laugh?

Lovely......I love American homes. We have an American Home Builder building an American style home not far from us. I drive there just to look at it......*sigh*
I'd like to have those plants out the front of my place too :)

Here is a picture of American style homes that are available in Australia, built by Farm Houses of Australia. The first one is called The Castlemaine, the second is The Summerlea Manor house. Gorgeous, huh?

The first home pictured is similar to the one our American friend has built. She has not got an upper floor though as she finds it diffucult to climb stairs. ( hip replacement)
