I was searching for some ideas on ottomans and found this picture. Oh how I love this chair. Not everyone's cup of tea, but I couldn't stop drooling. I loved the other classic furniture with colour injection and then the red chair in a odd shape to throw interest into the room.

And you all know how I feel about RED (http://www.decoratingforum.com.au/showthread.php/addicted-red-386.html).

Would you add a feature/talking piece like this to your home? I would!

Hmm, a bit too phallic for my liking, thought I like the room styling and colour etc.

It just looks like a short stubby *****.

( sorry! ) :D

Hahah...it wouldn't work in every home, of course (look at the scale of this room - the high ceilings, the chandelier etc), but it IS definitely gorgeous and covetable. :p

(I rather love the pear, too...but see above comment.)

Katrina the suspense was killing me. I was having my nails done & sitting waiting, waiting, waiting for the picture:D
Well I must be too innocent I never saw the chair as 1 of them:D:D.
I love the chair. It wouldn't suit my house but I would love to put statement pieces that bold in my house but DH wouldn't.
Apart from my desire to have a zebra rug I will look for a statement piece I would add.
And for those of you with your mind in the gutters:D what type of statement piece would you add to your house if any?

My statement pieces are not as dramatic or suggestive;) as your chair Katrina but I still drool over them.

This is my dream bed.

and this is the chandelier that I want to put in my bathroom but my electrician says I can't. I think he just doesn't appreciate its beauty. He once said to me when hanging another one of my chandeliers "How many crystals do you need", referring to the crystal drops on the chandelier.
My answer " a girl can never have enough bling"

Julie-Ann..

Electricians tell me the same thing. not near water and not over a bath.
What they forget is I am a woman and NO isn't in my vocab.

OK So .. WHY cant I.. because i might get electrocuted.. Ok. fair call. (I was actually electrocuted in 1997 and dont want to do it again. it hurt a lot!)

BUT... why cant i just buy one and hang it there and make it look like it works but never actually attach the cord.. and therefore.. NOT be electrocuted.

it is my intention to do exactly this when we build.

Electricians response. You want to spend hundreds of dollars on a light that doesnt work..and never will .. for looks.

FINALLY... he is beginning to understand ;)

Lol that is hilarious Lanne. I might suggest we have a chandelier that doesn't actually work to my electrician just to see the look on his face.
Mine would not even be over the bath or the shower but in the middle of the bathroom. He says moisture will get into it because where the bulb screws in is not sealed - details:mad:
How on earth did you get electrocuted Lanne?

...what type of statement piece would you add to your house if any?

Well, I guess it all comes down to your style of decor. My 2 personal statement pieces are my French armoire and my chaise longue.

A lot of you will think these (pics below) are really OTT, but to me they are the most beautiful & prettiest things I've ever seen.

Oh, and I forgot... must be going through second childhood. Not too long ago I bought the most beautiful doll's house. And I have no excuses for buying it, no regular little girl who comes to visit, and would love to play with it. It's just for me. But, I figure I'm allowed, because Lorelai Gilmore had one on display in my very favourite series Gilmore Girls. Think it must have been because I really craved something as beautiful when I was young.

I love them Romantic French Cottage. That is the prettiest armoire I have seen, such fine detail:).
I loved the Gilmore Girls too. Did you see the final show? I sobbed all through it:D. And yes if Lorelai can have a doll's house why not you.

i live such an exciting life. If only i had some super cool daredevil extreme sport story. .. i was ironing. LOL.

I was ironing whilst watching TV on a Sunday night and when I finished I bent down to pull out the plug from the powerboard. Nothing exciting. But it stuck.. and i squatted down to pull it harder.. my fingers slipped the tiniest bit under the plug and because it was half in and half out.. my fingers got sucked under/slipped under onto the two prongs. The only thing saving me was I was thrown because i was squatting down. Had I been kneeling i would have stayed there.

(the gory details - ahead, you have been warned).. it burned me internally. It burned the ends off my fingers (about 75mm each) which was its entry point.. and then burned to near my elbow from the inside out.. I knew the ends of my fingers obviously... (which have healed completely)... and so went to a late night medical centre.. (drove myself it wasnt the end of the world).
They dressed the fingers and sent me home but i wasnt feeling well at all so i went to emergency instead. When I arrived they panicked and asked me about the exit would.. what wound? I had no idea. They started checking me over.. and then found it in my foot. My shoe was full of blood and i had a massive hole in my foot.. I hadnt realised. It didn't even hurt. I don't remember it ever hurting all that much even days later. Then everyone panicked. The entry and exit tells them where it went.. and it had gone through my heart.. I now have an irregular heart beat and some heart issues..and weakness in the burned arm but everything has healed fine otherwise.

If it goes through your heart you are technically electrocuted. Apparently heaps of people are and live to tell the tale. I stayed at the hospital for a few hours on a heart monitor and was actually watching it flat line .. which i thought was way cool but it didnt feel nice.. and then I would blip again.. phew!

See.. we should all outsource ironing. It is dangerous ;)

Eewww Lanne how awful and yet such a simple mistake that any of us could have done. You have turned me off the idea of my bathroom chandelier:(. I'm not in to style at the risk of serious pain:D.
No wonder your hubby does the ironing- he probably doesn't want you anywhere near an iron ever again. I'm glad you survived:)

I would (and do) heartily recommend only ever using a power board that has a seperate on and off switch for each point. The one that zapped me had a safety cut out but i acted as another appliance and never set it off.

irons have no on and off switch.. so these kinds of boards are essential for them but should be mandatory for all powerboards IMHO

I had wondered why the safety switch on the board in the meter box didn't go off. Thank goodness all my power boards have separate switches for each appliance.
We have had such a major thunder storm here tonight and on the rare occasions when the internet was still working I was thinking do I touch the computer or leave it alone with all that lightning- thinking of you Lanne through all of this and didn't touch the computer:D
