Carpet query

We are buying new carpets for our theatre room. Wool are the most expensive but are they as hard wearing and easy to clean as the nylon carpets?

There is always such a big debate between having wool or nylon carpet. I chose solution dyed nylon purely because I have children, I find it easier to look after, to vacuum and I felt that it was softer under foot (I know that this may not be the case for everyone or with every range of carpet). We've had our SDN down now for 14 months, it still looks as good as it did when it was first laid and I have no stains/marks.

I think you either love wool or don't :)

Is your HT purely for movies/TV? We went with a s.h.a.g. pile carpet, it's dark and thick and so nice :cool:

We chose Stainmaster which is a nylon carpet.
I am happy with the feel of both under my feet and I think they both have pros & cons.
I am personally in search of the ultimate flooring (it is a life long quest as stains, scratches & chips annoy me:D).
Wool stains from natural products like tea, coffee, fruit juice and wine.
But nylon can bleach from the moisturizer you put on your feet and some other ointments and products (makes you wonder what we are putting on our bodies if it can bleach the dye out of carpet).
So my solution is nylon and to wear socks after I moisturise my feet:D.
We drink way too much wine to have wool carpets:D.
And the big decision maker is the cost of nylon is less than wool.
I hope that helps to narrow down you decision.
