So I have discovered I LOVE red. Some people hate it, I find that often, but that's ok because there are lots of colours I hate too!

Thought I would share some of the red rooms in my house. I pumped them up with a blast of colour too!

Wow that looks great and I don't even like red:D.
It is like we were chatting to Fiona about- you find the colours that you are always drawn too or addicted too:D and that's how you create your own style.
Thanks for the photos they are great:)

Yes it's funny how drawn you can be to colours. For example, I do not like cream or yellow. Plus I have seen enough brown to last me a lifetime. But RED...it keeps me coming back :)

I don't necessarily like wearing red (but I do have 2 pairs of red shoes). I just like buying red furniture. And I am very fussy about what shade of red it is too!

Katrina, the red looks gorgeous. I actually have a red door in my laundry. ( facing outside ), that is my colour for that end of my house. The front door is painted a beautiful blue. ( my colour for front door ). Feature wall in our living area is hmmmmm I forget the name, it is looks beautiful. :)

I am always drawn to white rooms.
I wear a lot of pink and purple but I use pink very sparingly when decorating - too prissy.
And I look terrible dressed in all white:D.

I love white too, but I look horrible in white and rarely wear it. I used to have pink in my home but changed that all out about 2 years ago. Yucky.

Katrina, those accents of red are perfect and you have made them fun...I am a green fan and in saying that I don't really have any green as yet but I am slowly starting to collect some pieces.
I did do red as my accent with our 1st home but realised I liked it but it just wasn't me.
I had done our bedroom wall in a rich capsi*** red, but I was told it would keep you awake so I decided to change the red in the next house and have not introduced colour since.:( Anyway the next house, colour is back:)

I've noticed it creeping into my rooms as an accent colour since I split and then divorced from my husband. My own little joke to myself is that it's my "scarlet woman" phase - which is really a joke since red is not usually associated with the celibacy I'm currently enjoying...heheh. (Sorry...tmi?lol)

Back to decorating: I'm gradually replacing bits and pieces of furniture, and I can see by looking at Katrina's gorgeous rooms that my hankering for red lounges etc is not totally silly. Looks fabulous, K! I think I'll have to do some more work on my place before I put any pics up here. ;)

Julie-Ann I cannot remember off hand, I will check tonight when I get home, I also think the formula is written on the tin. I will let you know. It looks beautiful. I also have a beautiful print on this wall which features a couple sitting inside a cafe looking out which has the word Paris on it. Matches perfectly. I also have another print which matches it, I have taken that down now as the wall only needs the one print, so now I'm not sure what to do with the other print. Same as the one I have taken off the wall which is called Lady In Red, she has looooooooooong arms. :)

I love red too! I have all red cushions and candles and accessories in my lounge. It goes really well with the neutral tones I have throughout my house too. :)

Speaking of drawn to.....My fav colour - i guess you could say is a dark pink - redish, purpleish pink...

Just to show you how much i love the colour - I painted my daughters room (Not conceived yet and not even trying either) in this awesome colour - and then i decided to do something different something that i hadnt even tried before and do some funky "pin stripes" in other colours....
Here are a few photos of the process...

Just come to realise that i still dont have a photo of the completed / finished job... I think that is because that room became our 'junk room" from the move - you know the, 'oh yeah we wont use that room yet, so lets put all the random boxes and crapp in there....

One photo - Trying to select a colour
Bluey-Grey was the undercoat
and the next has the colour - 'Vermillion' i think it was (Nippon Paints) and the pin stripes but still with the tape on the wall. :(

One day i will get a photo with it finished... On my To-Do List! ;)

Krystal that is so funny that you have your daughter's room already painted - what if you have only boys:D.
How did the stripes turn out? Did you have any problems when you removed the tape with bleeding paint or paint lifting off?
Love the colour too:)

Hahaha - yeah well I HAVE TO have a girl... My hubby already has a son, Mitchell, he's 8... So the way i figure it - We already have a boy, and so I want to have a girl... I am thinking that i may only want to have one child so one of each is good... If i have a boy first, i'll feel obliged to try again to have a girl... and I dont want to feel pressured like that! hahaha

And so i really need to have a girl.... Ive already picked her name - anyways, a boy called Zoe would just be weird! ;)

As for the stripes - yeah had a bit of a drama with paint bleeding - i was going to touch it up, but that whole room has been put on the back burner and I havent really been in there since we moved in - and plus the room is completely full of junk - boxes from the move and everything else we decide we want to throw in there...Out of sight - out of mind! :D

Ill have to clear some of the room out and take a photo for you so you can see the "finished" product!

I haven't tried it for years but I have never been able to do stripes as easily as they do on tv shows. I wondered if it was because In Perth we have plastered walls, as we build our homes in brick but in the eastern states most homes have gyprock walls??? What do you think could that be the reason?
Has anyone in the eastern states with gyprock walls tried painting stripes on their wall?

actually our walls are gyprock... we have brick walls with gyprock over the top - weird i know - but apparently its the 'better' way...much more expensive though.... straight walls - no issue with cornice and plaster etc. we are finding the odd issue with having gyprock of brick, but overall its not too bad...

Im not sure what the reason is to be honest... maybe practice make perfect - we have a sprayer, maybe next time ill try that - that should work better - not as much paint or pressure for it to bleed under the tape....

Julie-Ann

Well there goes that theory:D.
I would think the sprayer would work better. Let us know if you ever try it:).
And if you get a chance to move some boxes I would love to see the stripes.
