I was really interested to read about Decals in someone's post recently. I had never heard of these but loved the idea. I have tried to find the original thread but with no luck. I was wondering if they remove/mark the paint on the wall after you peel them off? Also if anyone knows where you can get them? Really loved the one with the words and would like to know where you can get these. Thanks.

I'm not too sure where you can get them from. Maybe try to google wall decals?

1000's on ebay! Make sure you pick removable ones though so when you are sick of them they will come off easy. When you buy one they come with detailed instructions. Plus some of the sellers on ebay offer little video tutorials.

I just got this for our ensuite... it was super easy to apply because it came with registration marks

is also good...and have made me custom things before as well as off the shelf.
They dont mark the paint (the good ones dont anyway) but i would be wary of cheap imitations or places stealing designs of others.

I will try and snap some photos tomorrow in better light.
The ones from etsy were the superior. They went on better, will stick better and i am convinced they wont mark the wall
Wonderful Graffitti and Blik are also well worth checking out
Something to watch when picking is that the image is often a designer home/image and they just Photoshop on the decal .. makes it hard to get a good idea of the actual size.
We have birch trees in our media room which were able to be repeated onto our business cards by our letterpress designer. Makes it all seem very expensive branding..when really it was just a lil shopping about.. and some custom work.
I also think they can look tacky if just stuck on.. i try and incorporate them as part of an overall design or have them work off a feature.

There is also a website http://minga.net.au/shop/index.php. they have all kinds, with reasonable prices.
I bought one off ebay and I put it on my wall in my office next to my computer. Very easy to put up and remove. The butterflies come separate to the main vine so that you can put them anywhere you want.

I think i also posted this somewhere else in the forum but my canvas maker can now also make me wall paper.. from my photos.
Clients are having our images 'blown up' to fill feature walls in play rooms and entrance halls etc. It looks best in a black and white image (IMHO) and small walls (or those dreaded sliding built in cupboard doors) which then become framed art.
I would be happy to quote on it for anyone interested :)

I can provide some help on the question about removing them.
If the paint quality is old, or was not rubbed back properly before new coats, or whatever the reason may be, that before you even place a decal on the wall the paint is showing signs of distress, then definitely not a good idea to put a decal on the kind of paint surface.
If the surface is a well painted surface, then most likely it is suitable for the decal. No matter what when you remove a decal, you have to heat the decal first. This softens the vinyl as well as releases the adhesive. Then pick at a corner and gently roll the vinyl back against itself.
Continue to heat the piece of decal as you remove it. I have taken decals off the worst paint jobs ever and done it with success, sometimes I even had to hold my finger on the paint where I am pulling the decal away from it which helps.
The most important thing is to be patient and just take the time to heat and gently remove it.
If you have any other questions about decals I am happy to answer them. My business was mentioned earlier in these posts so I work with decals every day and am currently focusing a lot on educating people about using them and preparing the surface properly so that people don't choose decals for the trend factor when perhaps their room is not ideal for them.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the great information Lindsay:).
How would you suggest we heat up the vinyl- with a warm cloth or a hairdryer?

A hairdryer works well Julie-Ann :) and wipe off any residue with a damp cloth or gentle solvent.
