We are in a mess at the moment. We have painters upstairs and painters and plumbers downstairs, and our concrete is coming tomorrow in prep for our sandstone paving to be laid. Which will take about 3 weeks to do.

We were hoping for an Easter finish, but that is now fast approaching, so dont think that will happen.
Our outdoor area is coming along nicely though, and the painter is now in again today to paint the boys bedrooms, we have been here 4 years and not painted yet, so this is exciting too. The stair well is also being painted - bright yellow, i will post a pic when the painter has finished, its really bright but nice. No sure what sort of art i will be able to hang on their, so will be looking for some great ideas from you all.

My days at the moment seem to just be speeding by, trying to organise these men and also be the project manager, as my lovely gorgeous hubby, is away most of the time, so i have taken it upon myself to make the Big Cheese decisions, and im quite proud of myself.

Anyway, i shall pop back with some pics later in the week. And hopefully get some feedback on what i can put on my yellow wall.

Thank you girls for your lovely comments, i have attached some pics of our sunshine yellow stairwell.

Forgive my untidy fridge in the background, i havent done any housework for a couple of days but have pinned all to the fridge.

Our living area is upstairs in our house, the kitchen, dinning room and lounge all at the front, and the 4 bedrooms and bathrooms at the back, where they dont get any sun, to keep them cool. So at the front we get allthe sunshine and light, which is what we wanted, making for a bright and sunny place, we have a terrace at the front on this floor too which looks over the hinterland.

At the bottom of the stairwell is where our new stacking doors and entertainment area is in progress, so lighting up the stairwell by 100% compared to how it was before.

My DH choose the yellow, i love it, then i love all colours as you have probably guessed by now.

I have a Marimekko fabric:) canvas in the same yellow, so will put this on a different wall to tie it all in a bit.

The wall was originally pale blue, which i liked too and we only pained that about 6 months ago. My DH would come in from work, come up the stairs and shiver, saying "brrrr its cold in here" - so i made him choose something warmer. My daughter would come in and say "oh thought i was in a public toilet" - dont you just love your families sometimes.

So now we are this colour, and its staying like this. All the other walls are white, and im now looking at shutter doors or plantation doors to go right across the front of the house, but thats another day.

I just have some serious picture hanging and cleaning and moving furniture around to do, but will do that later in the week - maybe!!:eek:

Susie I am not normally a fan of yellow but that looks gorgeous. That is such a great shade of yellow. Maybe your DH would like to join the forum to give us advice on paint colours:D.
And the canvas is such a perfect match. Is that one of your lovely fabrics that you sell?
I can't wait to see how the renovation downstairs turns out.
By the way Mr16 says when we die he is going to knock down our house and build something decent:mad:- so you are not alone with having a family happy to express themselves.

Susie, that's the best use of yellow I think I've ever seen!!

Perfect shade of yellow and your beautiful Marimekko print is stunning! Dying to use the same print in pink/red but waiting to find the perfect project.

Susie, your beutiful yellow wall is a great inspiration to others and a great way of showing its how you make a colour work in your home for you and that its part of your personality......
So often we get caught up with whats "in" and not what suits us.........
I wouldn't put yellow in my home but I can see how it works for you and you have made it look perfect. Congratulations and props to your hubby for choosing it.:D Don't tell him we think hes great at the paint thing he will think he should make all the decorating decisions;):D
