I have been housebound today and will be again tomorrow and Thursday. Apart from being able to use the kitchen earlier today I've been stuck in the Study which has actually been okay as I have been able to catch up on reading the blogs I follow and this forum ;)
We have been in our new home for 14 months. Today they lifted all the carpet up upstairs and screwed down or cut out creaky sections of the floor. I did all my housework on Saturday as my hubby and kids were out for the afternoon/evening. I now have saw dust from one end of the house to the other :( That's a bit sad to see, I'm going to be dusting for a week by the time they finish.
They have also taken off all our internal doors as the ones we were given were faulty. The old ones are piled up in the garage and the new ones are out there too (house is funny without doors). All the nail pops in the ceilings have been filled. Tomorrow will see lots of painting and our carpet re-laid, please cross your fingers that it will be okay once finished. I'm dreading the thought of the carpet not being right ever again :(
That's my whinge for the day :D

I would whinge if I was you too:(
That is major work and mess happening there. And I guess you have to clean a lot of it up at the end of each day they are there.
Good luck with it.
I do like that you are forced to have time to chat with us:D- a silver lining.

I hated it when my floorbaords were installed, and don't get me started on the repainting of the house. Furniture and mess everywhere. It is worse when you have to come home from work only to see more mess.

I have just this week got my kitchen back so I completely understand.....I was washing my dishes in the laundry trough:eek:
Why do we do these things to ourselves........oh yeah I know cos it all seems like a good idea at the time:D
I hope your day is better now its over TTD

Thanks for the replies, today was worse. Alot of "stuff-ups" wrong size doors were delivered, we spent over two hours trying to work out which doors upstairs were getting replaced (our first lot were faulty). Carpet man never came back this afternoon to re-lay the carpet so the guys couldn't start on the painting. I have saw dust EVERYWHERE. I've just finished vacuuming and am now going to bed.
Yes Julie-Ann it was nice to catch up on the threads yesterday. Will see what tomorrow brings :)
Laundry trough for dishes Elements? That's not good! I would have to hook the dishwasher up somewhere ;)
Floorboards are a messy job Lorraine, I'm glad they don't need to be re-done here!

Thanks Elements :)
My house is clean and plaster/saw dust free. Our carpet is yet to be re-laid but it's been flipped back over so we can walk safely around. Internal doors still need to be painted as does two walls in our home theatre. Nice to have freshly painted ceilings and stairwell, now I can re-arrange my photo wall ;)

:D Lorraine! I'm sorry but you'll have to wait a bit longer. The painters still need to come back and paint all the doors and the carpet guys need to re-lay the carpet. I'm not putting anything back up until they are done. Hopefully it will all done within the next week or two ;)
