I was given a white wooden birdcage as a present. It's the kind that is for decoration not for keeping a bird in. But I am not sure where to put it and what to do with it.

Just use it as a decorator piece. I am sure it will look stunning where every you put it. Are you aware you can also buy an articificial bird to place inside the cage, nothing at all like the real thing though. :)

I bought a White Birdcage from Adairs just over 12 months ago, it is supposed to be a decorator piece, I have my budgie in it, he loves it. The cage I have is not wooden though. :)

It's beautiful on a hall table, dresser, coffee table or bedside table clustered with other smaller things. Flowers like orchids are beautiful in it. I wouldn't put anything too brightly coloured in it though...keep items white or stylishly black or even crystal/glass. A cluster of crystal glasses of various sizes in there would be pretty.

If you have a blank space somewhere on the ground you could put it witha selection of other biggish items in a corner.....
Say a large pot your birdcage and a smaller decorative peice grouped together on the ground somewhere......

They look gorgeous Katrina. I love all the ideas for this.
I had a metal white birdcage that I kept a fern type plant in. It was on the floor in the meals area- which is kind of conservatory in style. It's stuffed in a cupboard at the moment. I might have to drag it out:D

We have talked before about doing a swap of ornaments and cushions etc. It's an interesting idea but not sure how it would work.
If you live in Perth you can always borrow it for a while- just make sure you take a picture for Lorraine or she will be after you too:D:D

I found this Birdcage at the opshop today and fell in love, it is quite old and delicate, and just after some ideas on cleaning it and making it a focal point in a newish home.

Gabrielle, Katrina's house is stunning but everybody's home is special to them and we all enjoy sharing in your achievements. Never hesitate to post - you would be surprised that the simplest things can be so inspiring to others. Just this moment I was thinking how much I have learnt from everyone here:)

KidsinAustralia I would take the gentle, gentle approach with cleaning such a treasure. Dust it with a small brush- a dust pan brush or preferably something smaller- maybe a blush brush. Then I would clean with hot soapy water and a toothbrush but don't have the toothbrush to wet, just slightly damp. If the material gets to wet it may swell. Allow it to dry. You may need to do this a few times.:)
