I have a room that I want to utilize as a study area as well as a living room.

I need some ideas. Right now, I have an expedit bookcase with attached table (Black/Brown), solid light yellow curtains with dark brown drapes... and the floors are old cherry wood floors. I also have a yellow swivel easy chair. Those are the main things I want to stay in the room.

Here is what I need help in:

1. What color should be the walls? I'm thinking of painting one of the walls a different color than the rest.

2. What seating would you recommend? Like what kind of sofa, color type, etc.

3. I need help with an area rug...

4. I plan to have a place for a TV.

Pictures are on their way...

The measurements are 10 and a centimeter X13 square foot and the ceilings are 9 and an inch feet high.

I have two electrical outlets.... and a small walk in closet

Any ideas?

I have three different featurre walls in our home. In the main bedroom is silver suede effect, dining area is a soft green and the living area it is called Iced Cranberry. I've had a lot of compliments about all three. As for the sofa, if really depends on how much money you would like to spend, for an area rug you could choose something to tie in with the colour of your sofa. :)

Hi cdero

Welcome to the Decorating Forum:).
I love your swivel chair that is so cool. And the Expedit bookcase and desk set up is great.
The room looks small from the pictures- is it?
I couldn't understand the measurements. Could you tell me what the width and length of the room is but in cms only? That will help to work out how much room you have for a sofa.
Would you entertain in the living space? Or is it like a little living area just for you to use?

With the area rug you can choose something in the same colourings as your feature wall. :)

Can I also ask. There appears to be 3 seperate doors in th room, are they all used or is there a closet?
What is the main use for the room, studying, lounging and watching tv. Is this room used by anyone else or just yourself?
Sorry for all the q's it just helps to make better suggestions:)
