So if you are like me there are lots of things that you love about your home. But if you could build your house from scratch what would you include next time?
I would tile the bathrooms to the ceiling. I can't believe we didn't do this:mad:.
I would make the WIR just a bit wider.
And I would have 32 course ceilings in every room of the house. We didn't put them in the minor rooms.
So what would you include next time?

Here we go, here we go....
Polished concrete floors
Tiles to ceiling (agreed)
Laundry incoporated into garage with additional storage (away from bedrooms)
3 boy's rooms with the games room in middle of them
High ceilings
No bath, but double showers in each bathroom
No sink in island in kitchen
In floor hydronic heating (powered by the sun)
Solar heating
I will think of more no doubt :)

We have never built from scratch before. The home we are in now is a Simonds Home, got it at a good price too. :) We rented for 10 years prior to that. That is what you do to help your kids out with uni etc. :)

We have built before and each time once we've been in the house for 2 years I start thinking what would I do differently the next time we build. My list keeps growing and changing all the time. Some of the things I've dreamed about that we are adding to the next house we are building are:
Butler's pantry
Fitout in the walk in wardrobe
His and hers shower in the ensuite
Laundry with bench top and cupboards
Prewired sound system in the TV room (would actually love to have speakers throughout the house)
Cantilevered servery to stop water splashing on the kitchen island bench
Always wanted to have tiles in the ensuite up to the ceiling so that could be an option too
Ducted refrigerated airconditioner
Alfresco with decking
Other things we would like to have but can't do are spa in the ensuite, master bedroom retreat and separate kids TV room.

Hi Milena! You sound like me - build and then move after 2 years :) I have some of those things you mentioned in my current house, but everytime I add something I think of something new and it keeps growing. Ahhhh the joys of building - I am addicted! :)

Working in display homes I would think it is an occupational hazard Katrina:D.
I would like to build every few years but then I remember how much hard work it is:(

Hi Katrina
This our third we are building and each one has grown compared to the last. My dh thinks this is the last house we will build but somehow I don't think that will be the truth;)
I like your house, especially your study room. It's gorgeous! We are going to have a big study and I am planning to make part of the room just for me.
You are right Julie-Ann it's amazing how you forget how hard it is until you start all over again:)

We have nearly finished our 3rd build and I suppose until I am in I am not sure what I would do next time differently...
But I know DH would like a bigger block.....not hard considering ours is only 350sqm:eek:
The more yard the more there is to look after I told him so he was happy with that but secretly I know he would....
I think I would budget for Shutter blinds...I love there look.
Wood floors in my master bedroom.:D
I have found my life has changed each time and the needs and wants have changed each time....Once I have something I think I want I find out its not that important.:D
