We have just moved into our first home after living in a unit for 6 years. I love decorating but have a lot to learn and am particularly interested in shopping online. I've bought quite a few things lately from online stores....some I'm happy with and others not.
Looking forward to getting to know you.

Hi Waratah congratulations on moving in to your first home:thumbs up:. I have done a bit of online shopping myself lately. Can I ask why you weren't happy with some of your purchases? What sort of items have you been buying?

Sorry, I don't know why I started a new thread but thank you for your kind welcome.
Julie-Ann, I bought some lampbases through ebay which didn't work and cost too much to be fixed. I didn't check the seller's feedback before buying but now know to click on a seller's id and there is a record of all the feedback they have received.
If the seller has neg feedback, you can click on the number and read what buyers have said. Sometimes you can tell a buyer was just being difficult, but if there is a pattern to the complaints especially "seller being rude when contacted", well, my advice is to stay away no matter how much something appears to be a bargain.
I also bought some fabric from America which was nothing like the picture. The seller told me to return it but the postage cost more than it's worth.
Like I said, I have a lot to learn!

Thanks for that info Waratah - you may just have helped someone make the same mistake:thumbs up:. Hopefully you will have many more good purchases. Have you been shopping mostly on ebay or do you some other favourite online stores?

Hi all...
Just wanted say I love this site..has given me some ideas already.. We are buliding in mt Claremont Perth..love the idea of a pressed tin splash back, something different.....might have to try sell that idea to hubby though:D
Searching online a bit though, before I head out searching Perth for the perfect house ideas,as it really is hard having to drag three kids around  but so far so good...any one know of a good mirror shop, want to hang individual mirrors above the bathroom vanitys?

Hi YvetteP welcome to the Decorating Forum. It is lovely to meet you:clapping:.
What a great suburb to be building in:love it:. Who are you building with- have you decided? We would love to hear all about your plans. When you are ready start a thread about your new home on the My Build/Renovation thread.
For the pressed tin a good place to start is Subiaco Restoration in Osborne Park. They also sell quite a few mirrors. You may get lucky like I did when I last bought a mirror there - it's a magic mirror and actually makes you look a dress size smaller:eek: - it's true:love it:.
Also Scurrs on Beaufort St in Mount Lawley have a huge range of mirrors.
Most of their mirrors are traditional but they do have some modern mirrors.
Ikea also have some fantastic mirrors - so maybe check them out too.

Thanks Julie.....
We are building with esplanade homes....they should be starting to build up the exterior walls up on the second level.
Will have a look at the places you mentioned ..for sure...:thumbs up:
Enjoy your weekend
