I love how when you visit some people's homes they have a lovely smell to them. Sometimes I will spy a scented oil burner but often there is nothing obvious.
Do any of you use candles or plugin devices to create a pleasant smell in your home? I would love to use something that lasts for days.:)

HiI Julie-Ann, yes I am a big fan of the vanilla-orchid plug in scent. I think it's by Ambi-Pur. I usually have 2 in the house. Heavenly! I have tried candles etc, but too much hard work and they end up looking messy. I love a house that smells nice too :)

I would love to have the smell in my house like all the display homes have and I often wonder how do they make their display homes smell so nice.
I normally buy Ambi Pur Evolution which is a collection of 3 fragrances and each fragrance changes automatically during the day. My favourite is Relaxing Countryside though last time I went to my grocery shop they ran out of stock.
I have also heard diffusers are very good. The fragrant oil is diffused through the sticks and they look so stylish in any room. You can buy them at any Dusk store.
Hope this gives you more ideas :)

Julie-Ann, I love burning my soy candles, they last longer than others you can buy. My favourite is sweet vanilla from buddha bum. Gorgeous. You can buy online at www.buddhabum.com.au although in saying that I think they are closed for one month. They also have a couple of stores at shopping centres in Melbourne.

I use a carpet deoderisor that you spray on.. and it disolved.. no vac... works well and keeps the place fresh and clean. I often spray nilodor once a week to remove any smells.. and do so on the air con vent.. sofas are freshened with a vanilla spray.. i keep everything light and fresh...and well aired.

I'm allergic to those plug ins and sprays so the only scent in my home is from fresh flowers.

My eyes water and I sneeze like crazy when I'm in someone's home and they have one plugged in :( I never know what I should do.

I was sent an article last year some time about the dangers of using the plug-ins with regards to the number of fires associated with using them. That was enough for me to stop using them. I now use an oil burner - The iKOU oil burner melts are my favorite in the Sandalwood (for Comforting & Quieting the mind, I think it actually works) Obviously you go through a few tea lights but the melts themselves last for ages.

I love using the archipelago candles, brought from Kit stores, or Myer. They make the room smell beautiful even when they aren't lit. Also Mariposa in Mount lawley stocks the most beautiful smellies for home and for person. I love going in there just to poke around. They have the most devine stick in oil diffusers (I forget the proper term).

Hi Lanne
what brand of carpet deodoriser do you use?

Hi Brookcourt
I'm going to Mt Lawley on the weekend to look at mirrors at Scurrs. If DH picks one quickly (could I be so lucky) I will stop into that shop. Thanks.

I have the Ambi Pur plugins but I had heard about the fires as well. If they are empty they do get very hot.
