DH and I were chatting last night about houses (not surprising I know). We were discussing what we liked the most about our existing home that we would want in any new home.
We agreed by far the best thing in our home is the natural light. We have a north facing home with a verandah and the house just has the most beautiful light in the living area.

We both like that our family room is at the front of the house so as we sit here we watch the neighbours going out for a stroll. You feel connected with the outside world even when locked up in our little house. This does become a negative at dusk because it is to light to close over the blinds but dark enough that people can start to see inside.
DH loved that we live on a corner because we have a lot of space around us. I hate it because we also have a lot of garden to look after.
My favourite room is our Meals area that is surrounded by windows and has large stacking doors so it opens up to the outside. You can sit there looking out at the fountain and feeling that you are in the garden itself.

So what do you like the most about the home your in or homes you have lived in?

I love my big office with lots of light streaming through the french doors and a lovely outlook into our courtyard.

I also love our balcony. It easily holds over 30 people (and it does every Australia Day!) and has great views over the city. It is concrete and built over our garage so it isn't likely to fall down!

I love and hate our tiny block. Sometimes I think it'd be nice to have a big garden but other times I'm glad not to have to fuss with the maintenance.

My favourite area in our house is the back garden. we have a swimming pool and decking area that cost us a lot of money but we enjoy spending our weekends out there so much. If we were to move I would want to replicate this area :)

This is not my favourite thing about our house but it seems to be everyone elses. We live on a corner & the side wall has Chinese Star Jasmine growing crisscross on it. There are about 6 panels of it. Yesterday I was collecting the mail when a lady stops her car in the middle of our road right in front of me. As she hops out of the car I smiled & said to her you want to know the name of the crisscrossed plant. She said yes how did you guess? I told her how we are often asked, we have people regularly take photos of the wall and once a wedding party pulled up & took their wedding photos in front of it. I was inside watching gob smacked. I actually got one of my first Interior Design jobs from some people asking about it. So I guess it should be my favourite thong about our house lol.
I will post a picture later today as I have dragged Mr16 to the hairdressers at the moment.
