My favourite colours to wear are pink and purple. I know very prissy. But I don' like to use them too much when decorating our home.
My favourite colour to use in the home has been white for years but I'm very keen on black at the moment. And every room should have a bit of black.
What's your favourite colour to decorate with?

I like blue. Mostly I use light blue colours. I find them very calm and peaceful:). And they remind me of the beach

I prefer more neutral colours like beige, taupe and then chocolate brown for a feature wall or something

I found this old thread and found it interesting that my attraction to black has grown. But especially the combination of taupe and black.
What colours do you like to use the most in your home?

Hi
I cannot believe that of late I have decided to change our loungeroom theme from the beech colour type to the walnut/maple wooden items.
It is going to take a while to find the right items to match them all but I will get there.. Oh a money tree would help lol!!
I am also doing one of the boys' rooms in this same colour theme.
And with the kitchen dining I am finding myself looking for lime green accessories all the time yet I swore I was going to have more than one bright colour with the black and white coloured kitchen!!

I have a deep love for Black and White. Each room of the house, except for the boys room, has these two colours in some form.
In the study it is russet stone red on the walls, chocolate desk and bookcase, white cupboards, black wall sticker and black curtain.
The Master bedroom will have a light aqua (still undecided on exact colour) on the walls, black wall sticker, chocolate desk, entertainment unit and side buffet (being used as clothing storage), white bookcase, bed, side tables and chest of drawers, black curtains and all my bed linen has either black, aqua, silver or white on them.
The bathroom is white with black and white curtain, black and white bath mats, black bathroom accessories and alternates between burgundy towelling and aqua towelling.
The loungeroom has the same russet stone as the study on the walls, chocolate corner lounge, bookcases and games storage table, white coffee table, red, black and cream rug, black and white (same print as on bathroom curtain) canvasses for the wall and a white wall sticker.
Dining has fanfare (eggplant) on the walls, black curtains, black table, white chairs, ivory and sky blue napiery, with black and white crockery.
Kitchen has fanfare (eggplant) on the walls, white cabinets, black stone effect benchtop, black appliances and silver appliances, a combo of white, blue and black accessories on glass shelving and 'LOVE' letters painted in sky blue for the wall.
Boys room has water raceway (blue) on the walls, chocolate bed frames, white buffet with chocolate trim (for clothing), white bookcase and drawers.
Laundry walls will have the same blue as the master bedroom, black curtains, and white storage and shelving.
Finally all doors and trims will be white.
After writing all this, it appears I have a love of chocolate furniture as well:D

Hi Tracyel lovely to see you again:). It sounds like you have really pulled your colours together:thumbs up:. With the black and white colour scheme the other colours must really pop. I especially love the aqua with the black and white:love it:.

Thanks Julie-Ann, things are getting a little chaotic here at the moment.
While raising my two adorable little boys, I am still redecorating our house one room at a time, and still studying for my Editing diploma, not to mention trying to repel my puppy from my flower garden. And now on top of all that, I started Uni this week.
I have to say, I'm loving every minute of it...well not the bit about keeping my dog out of the garden, that's very frustrating indeed:mad:

Wow you are so busy:eek:. How are you enjoying uni? One room at a time is just fine- as Rosierose says - Rome wasn't built in a day:D

I really love white, tho my favourite colour is Red. I dont think I could go full on crazy with a red room or anythink but I have a few things in my home that has tiny bits of red. But I dont think Ive actually intended on it, its just that your eye just goes to that without yourself evening knowing it.
But saying that I love black too. Mostly my home consists of whites and timbers, Cant wait to get my pictures up and some cushions Im having a little trouble deciding on cushions to brighten up the room.

Hi Julie-Ann, yes I'm loving Uni, for the most part anyway. The hardest part is trying to find time to study. My little monkeys are at that age of constantly asking questions and wanting me to do something for them. I find the only time I have to properly study is after they've gone to bed and my then I'm usually knackered. Am just about to submit my first assignment, so I'm a little nervous. And I haven't even started on my first assignment for the other unit I am studying. I'm just glad I still have almost 3 weeks to send it in.

we have an assortment of colours in our home.... pink, yellow, purple and blue are the kids bedroom colours... the formal lounge has the green feature wall with lots of browns in it, dining is browns, family room is browns... master bedroom is beige / golden colours, oh, and browns (just to be different lol). My kitchen is all white. I have also added some reds to the hallway, which looks quite good.

I was in the Dulux paint store the other day and asked the sales assistant what were the most popular grey colours people were choosing. He looked at me confused and said no one was buying grey for their home. When I explained it was the new neutral he looked at me like I had lost the plot:confused:.

Very true Dmplus3:D. Or maybe it is because people in my area aren't up with the trends enough and we are an unfashionable lot:o
I would be frankly amazed if they sold any paint which wasn't white these days (or at least Hogs Bristle).
I want to know who has bought coloured paint within the last 2-3years?

I bought bright blue paint 2 years ago for Mr17's bedroom. But yes the rest of the house is in neutrals:)
I meant to add "or for a kid's room" - mind you I loved the green colour we had in our old lounge room (quite by accident we got the colour) it was Wattyl called Primeval and its was sort of an gorgeous - quite a soft green without being wishy-washy - we had lots of white trim and it was in an Edwardian semi so lovely high ceilings made of pressed metal and polished Kauri pine floors. I wouldn't have gone all-white in that house due to the imperfections on the walls.
If I was doing that house again I would love a soft-grey with lots of white trim.

Yes I guess kids bedroom is cheating:D.
Your Edwardian semi sounds so lovely Clp. Do you happen to have any pictures of it? I do love renovated old houses.
Hmm maybe on my home computer (I am being bludge-ey at work) I might have some.
Let's face it JA, the sales assistant in Dulux probably isn't the greatest interior decorator going around, but he should at least know his stuff. Grey is the new white. Although I must say I recently painted the non-feature walls in my bedroom Dulux Beige Royale 1/2 strength.
