So the reno is being done on a fairly tight budget. With this in mind and my DH being a perfectionist with a half a cup of OCD we are also trying to not get to bogged down in the finer details but still presenting the property with quality.

I thought I would share what we have done so far........
Bathroom has been Painted, towel rails changed, new mirror, added tile height and changed colour of tiles, new basin and cabinets

I thought we were the only crazy people who renovated and built at the same time. Plus you have a baby- your insane:D.
It looks great and for that budget- very impressive.
When we renovated for a living we always considered who the buyer was and what standard were they willing to pay for. So the house we did in Willetton did not have the expensive fixtures that we put into the apartment in South Perth. It's hard to resist not going crazy with money.

P.S. I have one of those DH's too:D

I know how much you guys secretly want pink mosaics;) to be workes into your homes.
No really there are alot of reno's going on around this area and some of them are really bad. I am serious they are not good and so we decided that no matter what we did as long as it was done properly we would still sell the property for our estimated profit.
We are in a suburb that has new, old and renovated so I am only comparing apples with apples but seriously there are some bad renovators out there and its amazing that others don't see what they are buying....
Anyway, I thought I would work the pink bath and mosaics in rather than tile over(not a fan) and paint the bath(not a fan) and taking the bath out and replacing was just not essential if we were going to keep the pink um I mean pinky taupe;):D mosaics.
I will show you the master next.

Great renovation! So glad you kept the bath- it's cute and would have saved you a lot of time and cash.

Don't stop posting photos- they are great to see.
What an improvement. The kitchen and the living areas look so good.
With the improvement in the real estate market and all your hard work you should make a nice profit on this house. More money to spend on the next:D

Here is another before and after pic of our dining area.....
You can see we have a very specific style in our furniture and 7 years ago when we bought it all we thought everything had to match:rolleyes:
This time around we are giving our house more personality with the furniture not just the bricks and mortar. So the dining table will go up for sale before we move:)

What a nice feature wall colour in your dining room Elements. I like your style. So glad to see before and after photos. I can't believe you are renovating and building at the same time. It will be so nice to have furniture ready to go into the house you are building. It's amazing to see how things change in interior design over the years and I am sure we will see new trends in years to come.

I love your dining room Elements. Whoever buys this house is going to be so lucky.
I recently was looking at some photos of our house in the early 90's with the whole country floral look- OMG what was I thinking:eek:

Don't beat up on yourself JA. I always think it's amusing when I'm reading home decorating magazines, to find that what they were promoting 2 or 3 years ago as the "in thing" is now "out", and they're putting down the previous style and virtually sneering at it.

I think that it's probably best if we look on past styles with interest, & just see them as styles that existed at a certain historical period in time which identifies the time. Not everyone can afford to change their decor every few years just to be "in", and when they decide on a style, they probably don't think "This is a style that is typical 2010's and in 10 years' time I'll be wondering: What was I thinking?"

Let's just roll with the changes and enjoy them. ;)

I'm sure your country floral look was beautiful at the time. :D

Yes it was stunning for it's day and received lots of compliments.
Don't worry I was only joking. I love changing trends - they encourage people to redecorate and hire Interior Designers- a very good thing:D

I have found also if you bring out some of your old interior mags its easy to look at some things and think wow that actually still works.....they are the styles I always keep in mind....they seem to be timeless
Really the fun bit of re-decorating is the re- part. Seeing what it becomes from what it used to be.
I think I would get bored if I had the same style my whole life;) I like it to have a basis but then mix up over the top if that makes sense.:)
I will post some more photos once we are back from Melbourne.....

Elements that bathroom reno looks wonderful.

Did you replace the tiles in the shower or paint them?

Did you know you can paint the bath too? I even looked into painting my shower base at one point LOL!

I did my bathroom reno for $1,100 :) Everything was brand new, got stuff cheap as hubby works in a bathroom/kitchen renovators shop LOL!

Hi again, TikTok, we have a mix in the bathroom, we added tiles for height and where there wasn't any and painted the shower and bottom row.....
The bath I decided against painting as I wanted to tie in the lavender mosaic floor tiles and toilet so thats why I actually left it as a feature.
Lucky you hubby working in his industry:)

So here are some more updated pics.....
