I was having this conversation with a member and Twitter friend the other night and she asked if you could live anywhere in the world where would be your dream location?
We have been lucky enough to travel a lot because of DH's work. Plus we spent a lot of time in India and lived for 3 years+ in Belgium. But my answer was Perth right here in my existing home. A boring answer I know but I love living in Perth.
So if you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?:D

I love this topic. I spent most of my childhood living in Croatia on a beautiful Adriatic Coast which I miss. My birth city is Melbourne and at present this is where I love living. But that could change in the future.
For the past 5 years we have travelled quite a bit to various countries and we intend travelling more in the future once we build our next house. I can't wait.
I would love to live in Europe for a couple of years and visit as many countries as we can while we live there. It's my ultimate dream. But my dream location would be Paris. We were there a couple of years ago for a short period of time, we only got a taste of it but we loved everything we saw. However driving in Paris could be very interesting :)

This is a great question!

I love to travel so this isn't so easy to answer. I do have a top 4 though! I used to live in Glasgow, and that is very dear to my heart and I would probably be happy to live there for a long time. Except for the constant cold.
:)
So my top 4 are Glasgow, San Francisco, San Diego (it's too hard to choose between the two!) and Melbourne (where I was born and raised).

Maybe I could live in all of them? Though maybe not all at the same time.

I actually knew a couple who lived summer in Belgium and then came back to live summer here on the Gold Coast. Personally I like to experience the seasons. Although on hot days I could happily fly to somewhere cold.
I can't imagine driving in Paris either. Beautiful city but I would have to live close to everything so I didn't have to drive.
With Perth being a smaller city I am not sure how I would like living in a big city like London or Sydney???

This is a great question ... but a bit of a tricky one too. I can't imagine living anywhere else except Melbourne - after all I do like variety & we certainly get that here. However I'd like to be able to live a few months of the year in a warm climate zone with easy access to a beach. I'm not keen on winter & although we usually have a fairly 'mild' winter I'd still prefer to skip it as much as possible...... I guess I need to go on a search to find this place & plan to go there during our winter ...... dream on ....

Well I'm a firm believer in being in the now...but if I could live anywhere it would be Lord Howe Island...bliss.

I love living here on the Gold Coast, its just so different from everywhere else I have lived.

BUT - If I could choose - deep down in my heart it would be Islamorada in the middle Florida Keys. My dad lived there for a year or so, and I visited 3 or 4 times for months at a time. The pace of life was so slow and easy. Happy hour at 4 pm every day in every bar. If it was too hot, we would go out on the boat all day fishing and diving where it was cooler.
It was a true paradise, lots of coral islands all linked with long bridges.

A simply beautiful place away from fast paced life.

I'd love to live in Morzine, France. It's about an hour north of Chamonix and 45mins south of Evian. Beautiful mountains covered in snow in Winter, lovely and green in Summer. Happy children, friendly locals, only small local shops. Very easy, quiet, stress-free life and the best baguettes I've ever had!

Or any country-side Village in Italy ;) Anywhere in Europe!

We have been chatting about this on Twitter this morning. Plus it was a main topic of conversation between DH, Mr17 and I whilst away. We think he may have managed to convince Mr17 to rethink moving to London as soon as he can:clapping:. We are now working on convincing him that maybe Melbourne or Sydney could be the perfect city for him. At least that way he would be on our side of the world.
DH and I ideally would love to move to Melbourne. And maybe we will one day. There's just a little detail of DH's job. But we love the vibrance of Melbourne.

So which city in the world would you move to if you could just pack up and move?

Come and visit me when you come to Melbourne Julie-Ann.

I'd still pack up and go tomorrow if I could ;) I love Europe.

Probably a wise decision for Mr17, maybe when he is older he can look at relocating to London. Would be hard to do fresh out of Uni and away from you.

Oh he thinks he will be absolutely fine without us. I think he can't wait to get out of here:D

A place in Northern Italy called Valle Stretta stole my heart. Lovely mountainous countryside. And the food... oh the food.

Closer to home, it would be something like Binna Burra in the Gold Coast hinterland or a north QLD secret: Eungella (pron Young-alah) inland from Mackay. Both stunning and nearly the perfect climate for my delicate self. :p

They all sound lovely Tammi:love it:.
Which Italian city is your town near?
So what is the perfect weather in Eungella? I am a little on the delicate side too and would love a place that is 25c and not humid all year. If I have to choose between a winter or summer climate I would choose winter. What about you?

My husband lived in Morzine for 2 years as a child and went to school there- he also lived there for 2 years as an adult and we went there on our honeymoon.
Its a great place (although a bit busy with Poms in Winter).
I'd love to live in Geneva.

:D haha I think we have all felt like that at 17. I know I did and thought it would be great to move in with some friends. Hmmm, didn't last long I one was lazy and the other whinged all the time, I was happy to move back home when our lease ran out! Happy to say I'm still friends with these 2 girls 22 years on :)

Oh really?!! Wow. Lucky Mr.clp! I thought it was a beautiful place, we went in the early summer and the weather was beautiful, still lots of snow around though. Love Geneva and also Evian. We spent a wonderful day there :love it:

I love brisbane. I think we live in paradise. everything is so close.. the city is now big enough to have lots of offer..but not so big you feel lost in it. We have a great cafe/arts/performance type lifestyle... sport leaves me dry so i am always looking for more the other.

Andrew asked me if i would move to Canberra last night. I was cooking dinner and said Sure. He was gobsmacked I think. I am not likely to move.LOL I have a business here! I figured I could come back a couple of times a year and do my shoots in a block.. and then build new client base in the new city. I love how clean and organised canberra is.

Turns out he didnt want the job LOL

I am wondering about Tassie?... I dont fly (ear issues mean i can no longer fly without them puncturing my ear drum first) which makes somewhere like Tassie a lot harder to live... I find sydney too big and spread out and fast and rough.... or s***by (i am generalising).. and melbourne I find too dirty... but I like everything else about it.

Would never have thought before a few years ago but we are really loving living in Canberra - its so easy and has good city ameneties (like decent schools and unis etc) but in many ways its like living in a country town. Its a bit of a treechange for us and its worked.
I think not being on the coast scares people off but its actually more accessible (to better coast) than most parts of Sydney are.

Sydney is great if you are loaded and don't need to get about anywhere (and don't have kids).

Having grown up in Adelaide I think its really a lovely city with a lot to offer - fabulous eating and great events which are acessible. All my friends live in beautiful old homes which are stunning. Its a bit far from the snow for us and a bit close to my mother though (and the whole living in a place where you grew up and having to be that person you feel you no longer are).

I think I could live anywhere as long as my immediate family were with me..... however due to Mr 5's disabilities we need to be near to family and friends for assistance..

Hubby is a creature of habit and likes what he knows. Luckily we live in Melbourne and really like it here but don't get out so much so I probably don't take as much advantage of what the city has to offer as someone else would...

Oh but I hate Melbourne's weather......never can plan anything because it could be hot, cold or both in one day.......

Julie-Ann

That has to be better than 4 months where the odds are it is stinking hot and too hot to do a lot of things. Although in all fairness to Perth I am a whimp with the heat. And I am like a vampire with the sun:D

All these places sound lovely........................wonder if though a place you go to on holidays has turned out to be nothing like that when actually living there. I loved Italy on holidays but living there is tough with a corrupt government and few job prospects.........

Australia is so lucky economically at the moment, we really have a lovely country where you can pretty much experience the way of life you choose. There are country towns, suburbia, fast cities....towns by the sea. Ok maybe you can't buy anywhere you like and cost of living is getting crazier by the day but the average Aussie is still a lot more comfortable than the average Italian or American. We spend a bit of time in hospital with Mr 5 and I thank god everyday that he was not born in another country where we would could not afford health care and medicine.

Please feel free to disagree...I may be living in a fantasy...But on this Australia Day I love my country.....

My dream has always been to live in Palm Cove (cairns) right on the beach. naturally I would go between Melbourne (3rd most liveable city in the world :thumbs up:) and my apartment at Palm Cove. :love it:

Australia is the BEST country in the world IMHO Overseas is great but only for a holiday.

I have been lucky like you, and have lived in three different countries, they being Australia, USA and New Zealand. I am an Australian by birth and grew up in Australia. Australia has never felt like home to me ( how bad is that???? :o ). I spent 4 years living in Miami Florida.... and that never felt like home, even though I bought my first house there. My eldest daughter was even born there, and I never wanted her to be educated there! I have finally found my home, living 40 minutes north from Auckland city, and THIS is the place that I like to live in the world! :) It is relaxing, we have a beautiful home, our children are happy here (even though 3 of them don't live with us, just my eldest daughter), the schools are great, the weather is lovely (for the most part lol - we will ignore that huge cyclone heading towards us right now!!!), the people are sooooo nice!, and it just feels like home to me, for the first time EVER! :)
