Hi guys
I thought I would share with you all a little article I was featured in last week here in our West Australian Newspaper.
Each Friday there is a little magazine insert called the Habitat Magazine. It has little feature articles specifically focused on the home industry.
I was quite chuffed and excited and embarrased.:o but the lovely J-A insisted I let you all know and show you the article.

So there you go a few of my tips on how to change your decor in little ways for 2011.
If you can't read it here you can zoom in here (http://www.elementsstylishinteriors.com/p/press.html) and read it.

That is brilliant Elements- your famous:clapping:. I loved your ideas and tips. Although I am not a fan of the Pantone Honeysuckle colour but love Domino.
How did you get featured- did they contact you? Just in case some of the others here would like to be featured in their state papers:)
Thanks for showing us the article- not that I really gave you a choice. Yes I confess I am not only a bossy wife and mother but a bossy friend:D:D

I know the Honeysuckle is really not my colour but I am thinking it will be making its way through our home wares stores in the next 12-18months so we have a little bit of time to get used to it.
Yes the Domino is a good choice;).....well would you believe she contacted me through my Blog and here at your very forum:clapping:
She had seen my Blog and followed my thoughts over here and emailed me.
Goes to show its very beneficial being a member of your forum J-A.
Bossy you?............well I did have no choice ;):D

domino is a charcoal black i think... i had a dulux domino that i loved.. it was not a flat deep black.. but literally like a domino.. that kind deepness without the pure blackness.. it is scrumptious.

Oh wow....I hadn't been back to this post and all your loves are so appreciated. Thanks lovely girls.
Yes Lanne is right its a dark charcoal....love it and the honeysuckle is a pink, probably better as a highlight than full walls. I will share some images soon.

That article is great - but I can't believe the Mrs So and So mixed in with the Ms - I mean they are asking for professional opinions you can't be being referred to as Mrs La La - c'mon West Australian thats so 1974!

That didn't read well to me either CLP.....the formality just didn't work.....Makes us sound very OLD.;) Which I am of course not;):D

Well not as old as it made the "Mrs so and so"s sound. Its weird to mix it up like that - you should use Ms for consistency of just use your name - its not really treating your very professionally.

BTW just looked over your website - its great - I like the way your have tailored your business it seems to make a lot of sense - you're likely to get business from people who haven't considered using an interior stylist before and are maybe a bit wary of what it involves.

I would imagine that project builders would like to refer to you (or do you feel that would make it hard for you to be objective with your pre-start consultation?)

Have you done a business page Elements? Can we have the link to check out all the services you are offering? I would love to see it:)

Thanks clp, I really did try and make it very personable and easy to understand. I have always had the feedback from people and even here on the forum that people think designers are not affordable.
But we really are and for new homes especially its alot of time and heart invested and you may aswell get it as right as possible.;)

J-A, thanks for asking I didn't realise I hadn't told or shown you my website (http://www.elementsstylishinteriors.com/)
I might even do a post on my new service if thats ok describing and getting ideas for my Style Clinics.....what do you think?
I think I am nearly ready to advertise.;)

Kristie, I think your website is great (I may have even told you that previously, can't remember). You and Katrina have done a fabulous job!

It's funny, the first time I looked at it, it was like reading my own business plan. So it was great to feel like I was on the right track, as what I was planning to do is what you're already offering!!! Just lucky we're on different sides of the country, eh?

PS: I think the Style Clinic is an awesome idea. Have you run any yet? I'd be really interested to hear how they go.

Thanks M, you did tell me....thankyou for mentioning it again;)
I am slowly adding to the website trying to really make it easy and simple to navigate.
I think there are so many variables within our service that it is hard to write the exact service and fee for that service. Plus you want to add value to your service but not undervalue yourself. Can I also say I spend way more hours than I charge for researching and finding ideas for clients which is hard to place value on.
I will do a post on the clinics soon but I have not held one yet.
I am still finalising some retailers that will be lending me product to use at the clinics and possibly sell at the clinics. I also have some retailers who are interested in me hosting the clinics within their stores.....Some retailers have mentioned that having an outside designer put their products together in store gives the customers confidence that they are not just being "sold" on their stock. Its coming together I have just luckily but not luckily been busy and haven't been able to totally focus on this one section.
