Remember the other day I mentioned that a lovely friend had had a baby that day? Well it was Rachel- she gave birth to Thomas Edward. He was 2 weeks early and yet weighed 4.1kg. She was only in labour for 4 hours and is doing very well.
So Rachel is a Mum- congratulations to you lovely. We are so excited for you:clapping:

Thank you so much everyone!

We're at home now and a little overwhelmed but so happy :) We're getting in the swing of things and getting used to sleeping in 2 hour(ish) blocks.

Thomas really is an angel. I may be slightly biased though!

He surprised us all - my Dr was talking about induction and I was being monitored 3 times a week because my blood pressure had gone up but Thomas didn't give them opportunity to do it. In dramatic fashion my waters broke at home while a friend was over for a drink. He ran out the door so so fast!

Thomas is the spitting image of Edward. I have olive skin and dark eyes and hair and I have a beautiful blonde baby!

I'll post some pics of Thomas (and his nursery) once I work out how to get them off the new camera :)

Congratulations to you and Mr Rachel !! Glad everything went well. Was Thomas delivery like Edward, or totally different. How many hours labor were you? I love babies!
How many cms and how big was he?

Great to hear that you went in to labour creating a drama:love it:. It's just wonderful that you are both doing so well. I am sure he will start sleeping through the night in a few months.
How funny that he looks the opposite to you. When Mr17 was born my DH and I looked at each other and for the 1st time realised we look like brother and sister- eeewww:eek:. Anyone who only knows me thinks he looks just look me. But he is also the spitting image of his father. At least our hubby's know they are the father- well and truly:D.
Big hugs to all 3 of you. I can't wait to see photos of your little man:)

I seriously had a 4 hour labour (actually on the forms it is recorded as 4 hours and 1 minute). A little unusual for a first-timer. It was very intense but I managed to achieve my goal of not using pain relief other than the gas between 8-10cm to slow things down. I'm not sure why I had that goal but I did and I think it helped my recovery in the end.

Thomas weighed 4.1kg, 51cm long and head cir***ference of 35cm.

Lol Julie-Ann that is too funny. Edward and I don't look alike at all - he is fair with hazel eyes, I am olive with dark eyes and hair. It will be interesting to see if Thomas continues to look just like Edward as he grows up.

Welcome to the world little Thomas, congratulations on a lovely birthing experience......may you always remember that special day....

I am one of the few of my friends who have loved a natural chilbirth (of course safety of baby permitting)...we need more people debunking the "horror" myths that seem to terrify young women in the western world.

Is he feeding well? Try to just focus on you and baby and hubby.....this should be a wonderful bonding time.....but can get stressful when we think we have to keep house, entertain visitors, so relax and enjoy this amazing time which will go by so quickly.....

Popping in quickly while Thomas sleeps. Things are going well, I'm frazzled but he is feeding and gaining weight like a champ. Weighed him last week (9 weeks) and he is just over 7.5kg! - the size of an average 6 month old!

Avatargo07 I think a vasectomy might be just a little less drastic:D:D.

Rachel Thomas is so adorable. He really is as cute as a button:love it:. I'm glad to hear he is doing so well. Is he sleeping through the night yet?

rachel
05-02-2011, 09:50 AM
Julie-Ann he sleeps around 5 hours at night before waking (we once got just under 6 hours!) but then will sleep for another few hours after a feed and a cuddle. Day sleeps are an entirely different story though...

Avatargo07 4 is scary enough to me! Hell I'm struggling with one - but he really is a lovely boy :)

Rosierose: smooth(er) sailing at least! Time is flying though :(

5 hours is great Rachel. Hopefully by 12 weeks he will be sleeping through the night and you won't know yourself. Is he very alert during the day? Our little rascal wouldn't sleep during the day unless I put him in the swing. He was too nosey and wanted to see the world:rolleyes:
