Where do you think is the best spot for a pendant light?
Downstairs in the foyer, right in front of the entrance doors?
Void, on top floor?
Top floor, upstairs landing?
Here is the floor plan:
The dashed line is line of void over.

Hi this is me! great plans for your home! I think the foyer would be a great place the light...what sort of style have you got in mind. I love the morroccan, if that's a style you like..or how about a stained glass light?

I like the foyer- in the centre. Can you draw that in though so we can see how it lines up with the front doors?

This is why I haven't commented bc am finding it hard to picture....is there a ceiling above the doors or does the ceiling go up to the higher level....
I think a pendant hanging in the foyer looks inviting but depends how high you have to hang it....

Thank you all :)
Mr Thisisme says no to cloth, plastic or paper pendant lights. He will only approve glass, crystal or stainless steel. So fussy he is. Ughh.

The red dot is as far in as the pendant light can go. (It can't go past the dashed line as that is the line of void area).
Is this way too close to the door?

I'm thinking it might be............as you are able to go into the house what do you think when u look at the space? Otherwise would u have to hang it from the top of void..like some grand houses have.....What are your instincts telling you?

Yes I agree with Rosierose- I think it is too close to the front door. So past the curved dotted line does the ceiling go up to the 2nd floor ceiling?

I agree its too close to the front door, but it would be a shame to have it upstairs because not as many people will see it upstairs unless its visible from the ground floor looking up? If its only for you to look at I would go with the upstairs landing :)

If we put it in the centre of the void it will also be visible from the ground :)

Okay well I think that's the spot then......any further ideas for the light since it has to be glass or stainless?

Not yet. We don't want something cheap, and we can't afford anything expensive at the moment either :(
So for now we might just put a downlight so there is provision for a chandelier / pendant light in the future.

I like the idea of it being a feature in the middles of the entrance but another idea is to have it off centre to draw people coming in
the door to the direction of the house you want them to go.

Lol I know - my need for perfect symmetry is annoying. No need for everyone else to adapt them too:D.
If the light isn't going to work in the right space for you I would focus the eye lower by putting a fabulous rug or table in the centre (yes the dead centre so it's symmetrical:D). And then just have downlights.

Thanks girls :)
So Julie-Ann, do you reckon we should not get a pendant light above the void upstairs either?

Only if you think it not being in the middle is going to bother you.:)

Oh, we can put it in the middle, but I'm just not sure of what *shy*
Staircase, void or the area around them?

Because the centre of the doors don't line up with the centre of the foyer - that would bother me as a pendant would show that up. But others probably wouldn't even notice. So I think I would go for a rug in the middle of the foyer.
