Choosing a builder

We have to select a builder for an addition to our house. How do I find a good builder? What sorts of questions should we ask them? I am feeling nervous about this as you hear so many bad stories about builders, so I will be grateful for your advice.

I would suggest that first of all you make sure the builder is registered and a member of the HIA or MBA. Ask if they use a standard HIA contract.
Have a look at work they have completed recently and ask the builder for any testimonials from past clients. Also ask for a fixed price contract but make sure it includes everything you want and the allowances for your selections, like tiles is adequate.
