Over the years I have bought some beautiful fabrics from Thailand & Indonesia & India. I have never known what to do with them. Most are pieces of embroided silk. I would like to display them but I don't want to cut them up incase I regret that later. Most pieces are 1.5 mt x 1 mt. Do you have any ideas on how I could display these?

I know this idea would depend on your decor & wall space etc but you could turn them into wall art. That way you don't have to cut them up - if you want to make something with them later on just take them off the frame & away you go.
If wall space won't allow for that size then perhaps fold the fabric to a more suitable size & have it framed with glass front - I'd make sure the folds were covered by the mount.
... or turn them into throws. Find a suitable fabric to edge the entire piece adding more to the shorter length.
Just a couple of thoughts for now.

I agree with Elena, you can display these beautifully behind glass or on blank canvases, and gently pin at the back so as not to damage.
Another great way to display beautiful fabrics is as a hanging, making or tacking a channel or loop at the top and threading a pole thru, (also a pole at the bottom for some weight) and then hanging with some ornate or coodinating string/rope, these then look fabulous displayed in stairwells and above bed heads.
Hope this helps you on your way.
