What colour are your Christmas decorations?
With it being that time of the year again a few of the ladies on Twitter and Facebook have been buying Christmas decorations. One couldn't wait any longer and put up her tree on the weekend.
My DH loves Christmas and the house is normally decorated from head to toe but he did agree to scale back a little last year.
Our tree is all gold decorations. I use mostly gold and white decorations around the house. Mr16's also decorates his bedroom with some of the decorations he has made over the years.
We will put up our tree the weekend after Dec 1st. What about you - when do you start to put up your decorations? Do you have any favourite decorations?
Here are some photos of some of our decorations. I would love to see any you have of your decorations. To add photos click on the Manage Attachments button below and add them in the new window.

Beautiful tree Julie-Ann :) I did start with a theme when we first got our tree, it was gold baubles and then some smaller baubles that were red & green but predominantly the tree was gold. That soon changed after children arrived! So now the tree has quite a mixture of colours and themes but I'm okay with that because there's history in just about all the decorations we have. I made it a tradition each year to buy the kids a Hallmark Christmas Decoration. I make sure (as much as I possibly can) that the decoration I choose for them suits them for a particular reason and I write that in a note that I've slipped into the box so they can see that each Christmas or when they're older they have that memory. For example, one of my sons loves art so I bought him a decoration which was a gingerbread house which had Crayola Crayons on the roof. My other son wanted to be a fireman when he grew up so I bought him a decoration that was of Santa dressed in a fireman's outfit climbing a ladder.
So no colour theme here but I try to make the decorations I buy suit each family member.

We have a different colour theme most years (buying cheapish decorations in one or two colours and pairing with either silver or gold of which we have plenty of both). This year is a modern brighter green and silver...
Whilst children decorating has always sounded very lovely and all.. the end result rarely is.. ha. When my son was 2, a toystore owner told me that the elves decorated her house and we have adopted this practice. I am so pleased we discovered it..as it really adds not only to the magic of christmas but to the end result ;)
The night we want the elves to come - we put up the tree and package all the decorations into a BIG basket... and we leave out a treat and our santa letter. The elves magically enter...decorate..snack and take the letter with them back to Santa. Last year they left a gorgeous christmas stocking.. this year they are leaving SNOW!
I bought this - http://www.snow-powder.com/ on the weekend in a Westfeild. It is awesome and will last a couple of weeks apparently. We bought the BIG box of it and hopefully it gets very festive in our family room. Lots of snow over the tree and ground..Can't wait to see his face. At 6 this might be our last year of santa so... as much magic and wonder as possible.

We normally stick with gold and white, but in the last couple of years we've actually brought a REAL christmas tree. It's so much fun going and picking out the tree you want and having it cut down for you.
It makes the house smell so delicious!

:)Hooray, its the 1st December, and boohoo :( as we havent got our decorations up as yet. This weekend is the big one though, the kids cant wait. They have taken their Christmas cards into school today, they were all written out ready last week, but i did make them wait until today.
We will be delving into our garage on the weekend to get out our waving santa, nodding reindeer, sparkling lights and snowing lights. My hubby loves decorating the front of the house, whilst I let the boys decorate the tree, and I just sit back and supervise - with a glass of bubbly in hand.
So once they are all up and working (fingers crossed) no later than Sunday I will post a picture.
Maybe we could all post a pic of our Christmas Decorations, its always lovely to see others aswell.

The attached photos show our Xmas decor of 2007. Had some resistance to the colour but that only made me more stubborn. I did it & every body loved it ... & it will be repeated this year by the family member who insisted you could not have black at Xmas.

Whoa! LOVE the black and silver, it looks elegant and magical at the same time:)
Lanne... might be longer than you think. My twin 9 year old boys still believe in Santa and my daughter who's 11 found out this year - mind you I worked hard at keeping it all going :D. I was ecstatic because I found out at 5.

Thanks so much for posting this - I have a dinner on this weekend that I am trying to think of fun ways to decorate the table for and would love to match it to our Black & Silver xmas tree :)

Something similar to Diablo's table would be gorgeous. The centrepiece came from Dusk.
When you get a chance post some pictures of your tree and the new decorations.:)

Yes at long last, we have got our chrstmas decorations out of the boxes and in the living room and the tree up. All in the space of about 2 hours on Sunday afternoon.
Our house looks gorgeous, we have 3 fairies at the top of our tree, dont ask me why, it just happened. Our waving santa is waving happily on the front terrace and the reindeer are busy being reindeers. Alls good. I shall post some pics tomorrrow.
17 days and counting. :)

I put mine up last week, but the cats have ruined the tree already so this weekend I'll be going and getting a proper one from Bunnings, hopefully they have some good ones!

Here are my vintage Christmas tablecloths I got from ebay.
Most are from the 50's and 60's still in beautiful crisp condition.
I just love them and am still hooked on finding new ones on ebay.
If you are interested in getting some, its also good to look throughout the year when the demand isnt so high so you can usually pick them up pretty cheap.
Happy Hunting!

I thought I would bump this up from last year.
What colour are your Christmas decorations this year?
Ours are gold and white. I introduced more white this year. I bought some lovely little ceramic birds to hang on the tree and some bigger ones to sit on the coffee table. I thought that was a nice french touch:).
What colours have you used?

Our decorations are the same colour as last year and the year before that and that.....and so on :D
Sorry I'm not one for changing decorations every year or having a colour theme going. Anything that is red, green, silver, gold or even blue that catches my eye I'll buy.
Our tree is predominantly filled with decorations that my kids have made over the years. Yes they all go on the front not at the back :D It's all about the kids for me :love it:

I had decided on a theme and then saw a great wreath of berries and gum leaves so that put a spanner in the works! Usually I have a theme or colour set so after years I have a huge collection of Christmas decorations. I still keep the ones my son made years ago. Sometimes I do lights for the neighbours outside but it's been so wet in QLD. For years we had 2 trees so I could have my perfect tree and the childrens decorated one.

Let's hope the rain eases up for you all over there soon.
We used to have 2 trees for years too. And actually when we went to give away our old tree this year Mr17 insisted he have it in his bedroom:confused:. so once again we seem to have 2 trees.
I love how when kids decorate it's so uneven and with every special decoration at the front.

My colour theme this year is red and light green. Red candles, red plates, red, green and silver ornanments on my tree. In the picture below, you can see the green and red together...love this particular shade of green. My tree is rather sad atm as the white has discoloured a bit and we were suppose to have bought the 7 ft tree this year. Not sure if this is going to happen
I just cant seem to get organise as I mentioned on the forum before. More pictures to come when I feel the tree is a bit more chrismasy :thumbs up: and with lights on.

Love the idea of the elves coming to decorate....might use that one

Last year I entered a large shopping mall in the USA and there were not tonnes of cheap nasty baubles around plastic green stuff. Instead they made a few iconic decorations that were visible from 2 levels. Each one was different and they were big. It just goes to show how creative some people can be. The mobile photo was not that good as I had to stand way back however the faces of the dolls and clothes where exquisite. Here are 2 of them:

Love that colour green with the red MrsB:love it:
We bought a lovely new tree from Myers if you are looking for trees. They are very full and lush looking.
When we were in Hawaii they opened the Macy's Christmas store. The decorations you could buy were simply stunning. And the fun and creative ways they decorated the trees were gorgeous.:love it:
