Imagine having an affordable aquarium on the wall of your home, or sitting on the coffee table, or better yet it is the base of your coffee table. What a talking point that would be.
Piqua Aqua Art is a company based in Perth producing very affordable, easy to install aquariums. The largest (1130mm x 650mm x115mm) is currently on sale for $399. That includes everything but the fish and decorations you might want to add.
These aquariums don't need to be recessed as they are the depth of a standard Plasma tv. They are also mounted on to your wall the same way a Plasma tv is. They have a frame of brushed aluminium to suit a contemporary decor. You can also change the background to any colour or design. There are aquariums that sit on your walls, tabletop, and floors. There are mini ones as well and my favourite the coffee table aqaurium.
Normally you only see these in very expensive homes because it has been an expensive thing to add to your home until now.
Have a look at their website Piqua (http://www.piqua.com.au/index.htm)
I don't know if they ship to the eastern states but I can't see why not.
Would you buy one?

We nearly bought one of these about 2 months ago. We have always had an aquarium and got rid of it recently to make room for a new reptile enclosure. So these were the perfect idea and how amazing do they look?

We decided to be boring and wait until the new house was built before we got one, but have the flyer for the local supplier still put away :)

You have a reptile enclosure? What animals do you keep?

We also looked at these but infortuneatley our fish didn't make it and we are not sure we want to go down that pathe again straight away.
Yes Belinda what and where do you have a reptile enclosure. My DS would loove a snake or lizard. Actually I am not sure if he really likes them or if all kids like them at 2.5??;)

As my modality if Feng Shui, may I caution people on making sure that when and where they place an aquarium should be done very judiciously! Smile.

Are there some suggestions Vicki or does it differ with each home?

Well we have 3 bearded dragons, 2 spotted pythons and 2 diamond pythons and 1 massive enclosure that houses all of them which is still under construction :) I was so over having cabinets in every corner so we have cleared one wall and when its complete will look quite good i think.

I was really not impressed when hubby decided to bring them home but i must say they are very easy to look after and do not make any noise or mess unlike my two mutts that drive me crazy :)

OMG I am not even going to tell the males in my house that you have all those because I know I will be nagged. Do you have to have licenses for them? What attracted your DH to have them as pets?
I agree 1 enclosure is better- as long as they won't eat each other:eek:

Well its one enclosure divided into 4 units, 1 unit for the spotted, 1 unit for the diamond and 1 unit for the lizards leaving one spare for hopefully babies so we can make some money back on them :)

Each state is different with licenses but yes in NSW you need to have a reptile keepers license and there are certain levels for different types of reptiles. We have a basic license which allows us to buy and sell turtles, lizards and non venomous snakes. I would never have anything deadly in the house :)

The lizards are really fun Julie-Ann they watch every move you make and wave to one another and dance around they are really interesting to watch.

When we have finished putting in the glass I will take some photos.

That would be so interesting Giggle_smile. I'm pleased to hear they can't eat each other. I would like a picture of the lizards waving:D:D
