Gold painted furniture

Does anyone have suggestions for paints to use when wanting to paint furniture or light fittings to get the gold look without being too bright?

Hi I would try Murobond or Porters paints.. they have lovely subtle finishes

I went to Porters the other day because I am painting some picture frames (see my post here (http://www.decoratingforum.com.au/showthread.php/decorating-renovating-plans-39.html)). I asked about painting furniture gold for you.
The secret is to paint an undercoat colour, such as red, white, brown & black. Then use Porters Alchemy paint. It paints a thin coat of gold over the undercoat paint. They have various shades of gold.
