We are about to get new neighbours in 2 weeks time. And I must admit I am a little nervous because your neighbours can have huge impact on the quality of your life in your home. What if they
have a barking dog,
play loud music,
or drive a noisy car or motorbike that they rev up at 6am every morning!

We have been very lucky with our neighbours. We have either had the type that are quiet and keep to them selves but mostly we have had the type of neighbour that will go out of their way to help you. At the moment because we are on a corner we have 5 neighbours and they are so lovely that if a house alarm goes off they run over to the house to make sure you are not being broken into (they are quicker than the alarm monitoring companies). Although, when we lived in an apartment you got to know way too much about your neighbour’s activities:eek:. They need to make those walls soundproof!

But I have known friends to have huge dramas with their very difficult neighbours and things have got very ugly. It really is a lottery.

What are your neighbours like? Tell us the gory details, I’m sure they’re not reading this forum.:D

This is our neighbourhood.

We've been super lucky with our neighbours. On one side they're quiet with a couple of kids that I sometimes hear playing but no screaming. On the other side they're lovely social people who went out of their way to help us meet other neighbours when we first moved in. They also introduced us to the parents of other children who are at the school where our children would be attending. Actually the first Christmas they invited us over for a "meet the neighbours bbq" so this year we're going to do the same thing for our neighbours that moved in on the other side of our place. Nothing fancy or difficult, just invite some neighbours around for a bbq to get to know each other. We all try to help each other out too like take the garbage out and collect mail when each of us are on holidays, it certainly makes life easy.

No gory details here! ;)

Edited to add: good luck with your new neighbours! I hope they turn out to be wonderful.

What a great idea about the meet the neighbours BBQ. Maybe I should do that for our new neighbour.
