We are in the process of choosing a fence for our swimming pool and the choices are huge as are the costs of some of them. Even though we are in the middle of nowhere and our children are in their teens and good swimmers we must comply with the law. We have even heard that some shires are using google earth to track down people with pools and I know of 2 friends who recently just had an inspector turn up and asked to see their pool and fencing. It is 2 yrs since we put the pool in and we have now narrowed our choices to Bunnings pool fencing, very simple but cheap. Does anyone know of a cheaper/better option? We will be glad to finish it as it would be awful if something happened to a child.

Hi
I don't think you are going to find cheaper than Bunnings for pool fencing. these 2 companies are now offering DIY pool fencing in WA but I'm not sure about Vic.
They are Rally DIY Fencing (http://www.rallydiyfencing.com.au) this company is national so probably are in Victoria. And Unique Metal Works (http://www.uniquemetalworks.net) Fence-In-A-Box but this looks like a Perth only company.

That is very interesting that the councils are using Google Earth. Something we shoild be aware of.

Thanks for that info, I just compared the price list of the national company . Their cheapest panel , which looks identical to the Bunnings design, is double the price ie: $185 compared to $99. Perhaps they have a better colour selection, which would be nice but I will forgo this luxury to save money. Reassuring to know we are getting a good price.

I ‘d say that you must look or ask for some assistance through the search engine where you can find a site that will find a better answers for you. But probably there still cheap fences but the quality is good. I recommend USA Vinly Fence Company, which offers several different vinly pool fences models. Look for it and see if it’s one of your choices. Thanks a lot!

Well we have finally finished the pool fence and it looks great. We did use Bunnings with their pool panels for 3 sides and then the corrugated sheets on the 4th side. We are just waiting now for the council to come out and give us the seal of approval but we are not at all worried as we have friends who have also done a similar fence with same materials and they had no issues . Now I just need to landscape it and plan to use natives and other very low maintenance plants. Will need to watch a few more Brendan Moar shows, his always look fantastic.

That's fantastic. I hope it goes well with the council:).
If you have a chance send us a picture. There are instructions on how to add them at the top of the Home Decorating Forum.
Good Luck.

I think having a law for swimming pool (http://www.cheappoolproducts.com) fence is good. Because you have to ensure the safety of your children. Complying with it is a ggod idea. Any way. You can check some sites about pool fence. There are tons of them in the net.

Yes he is okay, it is his age Katrina, cannot see properly now, and of course we have not had the pond for long, he was at the back gate, heard DH come home from work and instead of walking around the pond decided to go in it. This is the second time this has happened, first time was when my son was here from Melbourne with his staffy, it was on for young and old that night, Bakari was pushed into the pond by Patch I think. Also Patch was going to kill our cat as he hates cats, Kobi decided he was going to protect the cat, then the three dogs thought no we will just kill the cat. I ended up getting the cat out from behind our shed. Normally Kobi and Kovu always play nicely even if they do have punch ups every day. They are worse than kids. :D

Rofl - that's hilarious. It reminds me of when I was young and our german shepherd dog was chasing my cat. I was asleep in bed when the cat jumped on my chest and scurried under my quilt and out the other end. The problem was the dog tried to follow:D

I can laugh about it now Julie-Ann, it wasn't funny on the night though, and I didn't even know Bakari was in the fish pond, he couldn't get out as it was slippery with the lining, Jason had to get in and get him out. That would have been so funny with your cat scurrying under your quilt with the dog trying to follow.
I was actually surprised to see Kobi protecting Kovu by having a go at Patch, but then when they changed their minds it was on for young and old. :D
